Chapter Text
[EARTH POV:]
*The Earth glared at Venus and Mars, annoyed, from her orbit before sighing deeply.*
"Great. Now my TWO closest friends have decided they hate me."
"This is so unfair! When have I ever-" *She spun around quickly, confused by Luna's her moons silence, before realizing they weren't here. Have I really been talking to myself.*
"OH! AND MY MOON TOO! They better apologize when they come back. It's not like my earthlings need them or anything! . . . I hope they hang on."
.
.
.
*She stared at the sun from her cozy orbit, dissociation creeping in and threatening her ability to think straight. The fire of the sun looked so... warm. And comforting. Like a hug that would never end. How she longed to experience that... ... Wait. "What am I saying?" She thought. "The sun is deadly, even touching it could burn her skin with a pain that could never leave her and her earthlings? Astrodude's family? Plants? Animals?" She questioned, as if she didn't already know the answer. She knew what would happen if she got too close. She couldn't!... Well, she could. But she shouldn't! She turned away from the sun, out of fear, or something else.*
"No Earth... It'll be too... hot." *She mumbled to no one in particular. She tried to force her eyes to stay closed, but something made her look forward... Is that-? Mars? Venus?... Luna?*
[LUNA POV:]
*Luna fidgeted with their hair, desperate for something to distract them from the guilt of leaving the Earth alone. Mercury was deep in conversation of how the Earth would "get over this", though Luna wasn't paying the small terrestrial any attention. They knew the Earth better than ANYONE! Better than Mercury, better than Mars, better than- Venus. Hell, maybe even better than the SUN! They scowled, tired of Mercury's distractions. All he will keep talking about is how this will pass, he's not focusing on the bigger picture! The Earth seemed unstable last time we saw her, the longer we stay here, the worse things will be!*
[MERCURY POV:]
"And! We all know the Earth right? She's always been self centered, attention seeking? This could all just be a beg for attention from us all. This will pass, Earth's moon!" *He stated in a matter-of-fact tone, though he wasn't too sure himself. As much as he'd love to lie to himself and say that the Earth will be okay, she seemed different. Like, she looked so exhausted, too. "I hope I'm making the right choice here." He thought.*
[EARTH POV:]
*As she looked up, she was met with a bright blue, shining version of Luna, Venus and Mars that looked see through, she could see the empty void of space through them. "That doesn't... seem right." She questioned in her head.*
"What doesn't seem right? Me being here?" *Venus retorted, smirking.* *"Oh. I know what this is. A hallucination, huh?" Obviously, this couldn't be real! I mean let's be honest. She smirked, as if she'd won, though she seemed unsure when 'Luna' spoke again.*
"Honesty? Who needs honesty? You just want everyone to come back to you and tell you that it's all good, right?" *The hallucination mocked, it's voice low.*
"What? No! I just-" *She stuttered, choking on her own words in panic.*
"Relax pal! That's what best friends are for!" *'Mars' grinned before saying so.*
"They support everything you do or say, no matter how insecure or cruel!" *'Venus' added.*
"I-... Insecure and cruel? I wasn't-" *Her eyes welled with tears, which she repressed.*
*The hallucination of Venus interrupted.* "Of course you were! But you just kept doubling down on your flaws until we couldn't take it anymore! But that's just what best friends do, right?" *It smiled.*
"Okay this is getting weird. You can't be okay with this." *She said plainly, glancing between the two.*
"Why wouldn't we be, pal?" *They smirked to each other again.*
"Because... because you're my friends. Because you tell me when I screw up, because you don't let me get away with thi-" *She said, bittersweetly.*
"But what about me? The one who keeps catching asteroids for you? The one who keeps your axis in check FOR YOUR DINOSAURS EARTHLINGS? Your Earthlings are so important right~? Everyone should respect that! It doesn't even matter that you treat everyone around you like garbage! They should apologize to you!" *It raised it's voice, seemingly mad at the Earth.*
*"Is this really how you feel, Theia Luna..?" She thought once more.* "Hey, stop it! I didn't treat anyone like garbage! That isn't...right! Luna you know I'm nice to yo-..."
"I DEAL WITH YOUR FITS, I DEAL WITH YOUR EARTHLINGS ON MY SURFACE, I HELP YOU WHEN YOURE IN TROUBLE, I ALWAYS COME BACK! AND YOU-!" *It yelled, glaring at the Earth.*
*She felt her vision blur. She's not passing out is she? Her eyes felt wet. No... She's crying. God, she probably looks pathetic right now. The tears rolled down her cheeks faster than she could stop them from escaping her eyes.* "STOP IT! You know I appreciate you for-"
"Being just a moon?" *It interrupted her plea, it's expression unforgiving.* "That's what you said Earth! That we can't be anything else! BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU, AND I'M NEVER COMING BACK!"
*The hallucination disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Her face felt wet as she tried to catch her breath. Her throat felt as if it would close up. Her eyes stung, bloodshot from her unintelligible sobbing. She scratched at her arms, desperately trying to feel like she was here. That this was real. That she shouldn't give up, people cared! They were here and they would come and talk to her soon..! ...All she could hear was the ringing in her ears, and the uncomfortable silence of space.*
[LUNA POV:]
*They scoffed.* "Mercury, you talking about how much the Earth doesn't need our help? ISN'T HELPING. Now I'm going back to the Earth. Are you helping me or not?"
*Mercury stammered an excuse, another false reason, another thing to slow down Luna's return to the Earth.*
"If you wanted me to stay, you could've just asked." *Luna stared at Mercury unamused. His cheeks burned red.*
"NO-!... No. We have to. Help the Earth now." *He mumbled, not holding eye contact.*
"So you're coming?" *Luna said it like a question, but they both knew it wasn't.*
*The smallest rocky planet nodded, seemingly defeated against Luna's determination and... terrifying nature. The two began to float towards where the Earth is in her orbit. Or well, should be. No! Will be.*
[EARTH POV:]
*The Earth looked towards the sun, her expression devoid of any hope she had left for her existence. A small smile cracked across her face.* "Everyone will be happier this way." *She simply stated with a newfound determination, heading towards the sun. It went unnoticed by everyone, but she didn't care. She didn't care about that anymore.*
"Come on, Theia Earth."
