Chapter Text
[URANUS POV:]
*They wrote in their diary attentively. "Yesterday was the solar system trials or whatever dad the sun called it. We were told to fix our relationships with our moons, but everything just feels weird uncomfortable scary awkward..." They glanced over to their moons, who were staring at nothing in particular. They carried on writing. "I don't know if I'll be able to fix this. But I'll try my best. I wish every other giant luck with their moons too... They have more than me anyway." They slammed their diary shut.*
[JUPITER POV:]
*He sat idly by in his orbit, reading a history book while his moons bickered amongst themselves. "I really should be fixing things shouldn't I? Okay. Okay!" He glanced over to his moons, putting his book down.*
"Hey, you moons should stop fightin', alright?"

"S-s-s-since when can you tell us what to do?" *IO genuinely asked him, before coughing violently.*
"Since always? I'm your planet! And you're my moons! Shouldn't I have a little bit of authority here?" *He said sternly.*
"Guys. You should listen to Jupiter." *Callisto said apathetically.*
*It seems she's taking over as the largest moon with Ganymede gone... And Europa. But, he was grateful.*
"Yes, thank you Callisto. Just don't hurt each other, it should really be simple." *He glared, before picking his book back up.*
*There was a murmur of protest between all the younger moons.*
"How does he get to boss us around? He doesn't even know we're here half the time."
"He doesn't even know where we came from."
"Mr Jupiter is scary!"
"He just always treats us like babies."
*Jupiter glanced over, which caused them to tremble, which was, in fact the exact opposite of what he was trying to do.*
*He seemed baffled. He wasn't that big, was he? And sure, he didn't know he had this many moons, but that's not the point.*
.
.
.
*Maybe he should go ask someone for advice. "Who's close with their moons-? Saturn? He thought back for a second, remembering every time Saturn treated Titan kindly. Huh. Maybe his husband does have a good relationship with his moons, who could've thought?*
*He floated towards his husband's orbit, who seemed to be chatting with Titan, as per usual, he assumed.*
"Hey, darlin'." *He cooed towards his husband, who gasped eagerly at his presence.*
"Sweetheart!" *Saturn trilled, running towards Jupiter in excitement, landing in his arms.*
"You're warm." *Saturn smiled, nuzzling into Jupiter, which made his face burn red. During his reunion with his husband, Saturn unintentionally pulled his moons way too aggressively out of their orbits. They grumbled at Saturn, before going back to their orbits.*
"Uhm, you got any advice for having a nicer relationship with moons?" *Jupiter mumbled sheepishly, playing with Saturn's hair, who sat within his arms. Saturn thought for a second, before smiling awkwardly.*
"Well, no, not really. I was kinda hoping you would know."
*The pair stared at each other blankly for a moment, before Saturn continued.*
"I'm guessing you don't have any advice for me either?"
"Well, not right now, that's why I'm here. But I might be able to think of something later, just for you." *Jupiter hummed, brushing Saturn's hair out of his eyes, which he was oblivious to due to his bad eyesight.*
*Saturn giggled at Jupiter's shameless flirting, still doing this even when it's during something serious like this. Jupiter kissed Saturn on the cheek gently, before standing up to leave.*
*Saturn whined at the sudden cold.*
"I need to go get advice, anyway. Love you, darlin'." *Jupiter yelled back as he ran towards his orbit.*
.
.
.
*While I appreciated the attention, that didn't help my end goal, at ALL. Okay, who's left? No clue about Uranus or Neptune, their orbits are too far. The sun would notice immediately, and I've really gotta stay close to the asteroid belt to keep it in check. He cursed under his breath, which was unusual for him. Maybe Mars? Sure, Mars. He inched closer towards the asteroid belt.* "Uh. Mars-?" *He called out, to no avail. Venus passed by.*
"Hey, hey Venus!" *He called out.*
*Venus looked at him, confused.* " What do you want?"
"Uh... oh shoot you don't have a moon-" *He mumbled, frustrated.* "Have you seen Mars?"
*Venus narrowed his eyes at the gigantic gaseous planet.*
"He's babysitting Phobos and Deimos at the moon club or whatever. Apparently he doesn't trust the moons since that whole revolution. But, he'll be back later."
"Shoot." *He murmured.*
"Impatient, much? Guess you wouldn't know about taking care of moons, huh?" *He rolled his eyes, before purposefully moving further down in his orbit.*
*Who else can he go to?... ... Of course, the Earth! Why didn't he think of that sooner??? Probably because he's been saying 'moons' instead of moon- Whatever. He circled around the asteroid belt a bit, before finding the Earth's place in her orbit.*
[EARTH POV:]
*She was focused on her card game, currently beating Luna and Mercury by a landslide. Luna cursed in frustration.*
"Luna!" *She gasped.*
"What?... Wait didn't I say this to you before?" *Luna stared at her, eyes narrowed.*
*The pair stared blankly for a second, remembering.* "Oh yeah!"
*She looked over at Mercury, who looked like he'd seen a ghost.*
"What's wrong Mercury?" *She asked, concern filling her voice. He kept staring at something behind her. She slowly turned around, following his gaze to find... JUPITER?! She practically jumped out of her skin at the sight of him so close to her orbit.*
"Hey y'all." *He said, panting.*
*She stared at the biggest planet who was exhausted somehow, and was just shocked at his very presence.*
"...J-Jupiter! Uh what do you need all the way over here? You're pretty far from your orbit." *She smiled, scrambling for her card deck on the hypothetical floor- . . . She dropped it when she saw Jupiter.*
"I'm so lost Theia Earth." *He sighed.*
"Lost? Your orbits over there." *She pointed in the distance.*
"Not that kinda lost. Lost with something else!" *He huffed.*
"Go on..." *She listened intently, placing her card deck face down, to make sure no one would cheat. Luna passed her mind as she thought that. But that's not important right now!*
"I'm struggling with getting on with my moons. They're scared of me! But you and uh your moon have a good relationship right??" *He ranted desperately.*
*The Earth looked over at Luna.*
"I mean, you'd be right. But that's probably because Proto the Earth and I are twins?" *They added, as if it changed much.*
"Oh yeah. S'pose you are if you're made from the same stuff at the same time." *He smiled bashfully.* "But please help! Give me advice or something!" *He begged. The Earth smiled.*
"Alright, sure." *She waved him off with her hand.* "Just listen closely, m'kay? I have a Solarcards tournament to be winning."
*Jupiter nodded eagerly.*
"Well, from what I've seen you get a lot of new moons every like... once in a while or something? Cuz of your gravity. So maybe get your moons to tell you when there's a new moon and you can name them or ask their name and blah blah. Then just remember your moons names! Get something you can remember them with. I've heard that your moons share names with characters in my Earthling stories. Just an option!" *She grinned.*
*Luna facepalmed.* "Stop advertising."
"Then like... I don't know, read them some of your books? They're probably bored." *Earth crossed her arms.* "Are you willing to try that, Jupiter?" *She looked at him expectantly.*
"Well, shoot, why not?" *He said joyfully, his accent heavier on this sentence than the rest.*
"I'm gonna play solar cards then. See ya Jupes!" *She waved goodbye as the large planet sprinted off back to his orbit.*
"Luna, you looked at my cards didn't you." *The Earth glared. Luna smirked.*
[JUPITER POV:]
*Jupiter ran as fast as he could back to his orbit. He made a mental note of everything the Earth said. So... It wouldn't hurt to try!*
*He walked back to his orbit, his arrival going completely unnoticed by his moons, which hurt a part of him deep down.*
"Uh... moons?" *A few looked up at him, while the rest ignored him.* "All of you, please?" *The rest scoffed and looked up.* "Uhm. I'd like to try and remember you all. So please, tell me your names? 'Twasn't fair that I only really got to know my Galilean moons."
*A few moons looked up at him hopefully. The rest seemed confused. They muttered between themselves.*
"Is this really happening?" *Adastrea asked eagerly.*
"It's probably a prank." *A moon he recognized, Thebe, retorted.*
"He's probably too old to know what a prank is!" *Amalthea laughed.*
"I think we should believe him guys!" *Metis squeaked.*
"I already know some of you, sure. The four that just spoke, Metis, Amalthea, Adastea, Thebe, small, yet they help maintain my ring system." *He said softly. They gasped, grinning.*
*He looked around at other moons of his, stating what makes them important.* "S/2017 J4 and S/2018 J1, members of my prograde moons. As well as Valetudo, who orbits across the orbits of my retrograde moons. My retrograde moons, how could I forget. S/2003 J15, S/2003 J3 and S/2003 J5. There's more than that, dont get me wrong. And of course the rest of my inner orbiting moons. Leda. Himalia. Elaria."
"How'd you remember all that, Jupiter?" *Callisto asked, genuinely curious.*
"I have my ways." *He smiled nervously. He actually just compared them to the names of the characters in earthling stories like Earth had advised, but don't tell them that.*
"So. Do you guys want to read some of my books with me?" *He asked nervously. Callisto nodded, alongside IO.*
"YEAH!!!"
"Do they have pictures?"
"Can I pick the first one???!!"
*Their shouts overlapped. Jupiter didn't seem to mind, just happy to have a decent relationship with his moons kids now.*
"One at a time, kids. How about the story of Metis?"
"THAT'S ME!!!" *A smaller moon squealed. He chuckled lightly.*
*The larger moons shifted uncomfortably, which didn't go unnoticed by Jupiter.*
"Somethin' the matter?" *He questioned curiously, turning slightly to face them.*
"I just . . . don't like when you baby us." *A larger moon mumbled, which received nods of approval from his A-Team Galilean Moons. Jupiter's eyes widened in surprise.*
"Well, shoot, I didn't mean to make you feel this way. I promise I won't do it again." *He smiled softly, putting his pinky out as he'd seen the younger moons do, to emphasize his point.*
[EARTH POV:]
*She was laughing alongside Luna. The Solarcards tournament had finished ages ago, which she had brutally lost. Though, it would've been hard to win with all the distractions. Jupiter . . . Mars Other people . . . . . . Oh, yeah. Jupiter. She looked over towards Jupiter's orbit. His moons seemed happier to be around him. Obviously, not all of them... But it's a start. Besides, changing things takes time.*
