Fixing things takes time.

Chapter 2: Saturn.

Summary:

It's Saturn's time to shine his big shiny rings! But how did they even get there? Those moons have questions. Saturn has answers, this time.

.

"My little Chrysalis..." *He sobbed, brushing his fingers through his rings.*

*The moons, those who had stayed behind, glanced at Saturn, some concerned, others confused.*

"Saturn, what's wrong??" *Phoebe spoke, her voice barely above a whisper.*

"It's nothing! It's nothing...*hic* Don't worry about me." *He wiped his tears.*

"See? All better!"

"Oh okay!" *Pandora and other younger moons smiled at this, going back to their games, but the older moons weren't so easily fooled.*

Notes:

Jupiter's done what he had to, and now he feels closer than ever with his moons! But Saturn wants to feel this too. Can he do it??

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

[URANUS POV:]

*They started a new diary entry. Entry 4.8 billion... and something. "I heard that Jupiter and his moons are doing better. That's nice. Though I wish I could say the same about mine. I guess we just wait, though I am curious how Saturn is doing. Hope his eyesight gets better someday." They added on politely, before shutting their diary.*

[SATURN POV:]

"Okay... Okay!...Diana-?" *Saturn squinted his eyes at a silver looking blob. He'd be able to tell who it was once they spoke, since he'd remembered all their voices. But, he could never put a name to their voices, neither a name to their faces. Stars, this wouldn't have happened if his eye sight wasn't so horrendous. He cursed in his head.*

"NO! For stars sake, it's Dione!" *Dione yelled, volume increasing rapidly. She threw her hands up in confusion.*

*Saturn flinched at the sudden increase in volume, rubbing his eyes desperately. None of his moons could tell he couldn't see well, much to his surprise. He'd always squint at things, or have to do double takes, or ask what was happening. Maybe they just thought he was stupid.* "I'm sorry . . . SORRY!" *He whined, before mumbling to himself.* ". . I thought it was like Princess Diana.  . . . Okay uhm . . . who else?"

"En..Ensalada?" *He turned to face the white-ish blob moon, trying to listen if he'd heard them talk before this, though they hadn't.*

"Wrong. Again." *Ensalada Enceladus stated harshly, rolling his eyes.*

*Saturn whimpered, * "Why is this so difficult? Jupiter normally . . ." *He stopped himself, realizing he would start spiraling. And stars, it would only go down hill from there.*

"Are you Metis? No! No . . . Mimi?" *He smiled down at a smaller moon, who appeared to be missing an eye, he noted, due to the lack of white on their face.*

"Mimas! It's Mimas!!!" *Saturn slumped down on the floor in defeat, covering his face as the moons gathered for a chat nearby.*

[TITAN POV:]

*Titan looked at his dad planet with pity.* "Why don't we all just take a break? You all are getting worked up about this." *He gestured to Saturn. A few moons looked over and saw their planet in distress. Saturn gripped his hair tightly at his scalp.* "I'm no good at this. I'm terrible!" *He whined. Some scoffed at the pathetic sight, others sympathized with their planet in a way.*

"Fine. We'll 'just take a break'." *Hyperion mumbled, strolling away with a few other smaller Saturnian moons.*

.

.

.

*Titan walked up to his... uh... Saturn.* "Saturn?" *He whispered, not wanting to disturb his dad's planet's breakdown.*

[SATURN POV:]

*He felt a tiny hand tug at his skirt, asking for his attention, perhaps? "Who is it this time?" He wondered, hoping to get their name right this time. Looking up from his hands he saw... Titan! The only presence he could remember clearly. Perhaps it was due to Titan's large size, which meant Saturn could make out his features easier. Relief flooded his guilty conscience.*

"Oh! Hello Titan! *sniffle* How can I help you?"

"Have you been... crying-?" *The tiny teal moon asked.*

*Saturn almost jumped out of his orbit when Titan called him out, rubbing at his eyes until his face was red.* "No! Nope! No way! I mean I'm fine!"

*Titan glanced around.* "O-kay? Uhm. I was just wondering if you wanted to review our names again."

*Saturn smiled weakly.* "Maybe later, dear Chrysalis Titan... I'm going to rest. Why don't you er... have a moon club meeting! Yeah, that's what you guys do..." *He looked out towards the inner solar system, mainly the Sun, as it was the brightest thing in his blurry world.*

"Uh... Okay. Whatever you say." *Titan gave a double thumbs up before returning to the group of moons. They looked at Titan expectantly.*

[TITAN POV:]

"So? Anything interesting to report?" *Iapetus stated sarcastically, receiving a few laughs from the younger moons.*

"Cut it out." *He grunted.* "Saturn's trying his best, okay?"

"Daddy's boy." *One moon smirked, causing a ripple of laughter to break out. Titan's face burned red.*

"Whatever. Moon club meeting, anyone? We can just play games if you're all bored." *He walked off towards the asteroid belt, hands buried deep in his pockets. The other moons glanced at each other, considering the offer.*

[SATURN POV:]

*Oh stars. Why can't you just do this? The universe must hate a planet like you. The worst eyesight and memory, with the most moons to remember. You failed to remember Chrysalis. Your little-... He felt tears prick his eyes.*

"Oh, okay!" *Pandora and other younger moons smiled at this, going back to their games, but the older moons weren't so easily fooled.*

*His only large moon who stayed behind, muttered sympathetically.* "What happened to Chrysalis, Saturn? Just tell me this..." *Rhea looked up at him sadly.*

*Saturn avoided eye contact.* "... Apparently she... was pulled in... by my gravity." *He looked back at his big, beautiful rings. They glimmered as the sun's light caught them.* "And... she...she-!..." *A broken sob escaped his throat as he pulled his legs tighter to his chest.*

*Rhea hadn't expected to see this side of the giant gas planet. Not in her lifetime at least. She smiled.* "Well, thank you for opening up to me. I never . . . " *She looked down at the ground, unwilling to finish her sentence.* Do you need me to get Chrysalis Titan..?" *She suggested, hoping to change the topic.*

*Saturn shook his head frantically.* "He's having fun, I'm sure. I just need to go talk to someone. You're in charge, uhm. Rhea." *He smiled, unsure. Rhea nodded proudly, before yelling way too confidently;* "SATURN SAYS I'M IN CHARGE!" *She grinned. The response was a mix of groans and whining.*

*Saturn nodded at her, before setting off towards Jupiter's orbit.*

.

.

.

*There, he found his husband, lovingly chatting to some smaller things. He assumed they were his moons.*

"Hi, darlin'." *Jupiter hummed upon sensing Saturn's gravity. The ringed planet smiled warmly, giving Jupiter a peck on the cheek.*

"Hi sweetheart." *Saturn spoke but, he presumed, his despair was obvious in his tone of voice.*

"Somethin' the matter?" *He questioned, raising an eyebrow curiously, and during that placing some object that was in his hands down. Saturn sighed sadly.*

"I just. . . I can't even tell which of my moons is which. And they're mad at me for it. I don't know their names either. Stars, I'm bad at this." *Saturn whimpered softly, a tear rolling down his cheek already. Jupiter smiled warmly, wiping Saturn's face and placing his free hand around Saturn's shoulder.*

"No, darlin', you're not bad at this. It's not your fault that you can barely see, that's ridiculous." *He felt Jupiter rubbing circles on his shoulder, like he'd done to Jupiter a million times before. He couldn't help but smile softly, leaning against Jupiter's shoulder.*

"Oh, my sweetheart. What would I do without you?" *Saturn hummed sweetly, nuzzling closer to his husband's face and fidgeting with his promise ring. Jupiter's moons looked up at the duo, though he couldn't make out their expressions.*

"I'm not sure, darlin'." *Jupiter whispered in response, his hand finding it's way towards Saturn's. Saturn thought for a second.*

"Hold on, couldn't I ask the Earth for help with my moons? Her and Luna are so close." *Saturn's eyes sparkled in realization. Jupiter blinked warily, startled by Saturn suddenly leaving his arms.*

"Well, shoot, why not? That's where I got help fro- Oh!" *Jupiter looked up to find Saturn already gone, feeling his way towards the asteroid belt and squinting his eyes.*

[EARTH POV:]

*A minute before . . . *

"HI GUYS!" *The group of Rockies and the three satellites; Phobos, Deimos and Luna, jumped at the Sun's sudden presence.*

"Hi Sun..." *Mercury murmured nervously.*

"HI DAD! HAHHAE! Wanna hear a SUN PUN?" *He grinned. The terrestrials shook their head at Mercury, mouthing no.  . . . He ignored them.*

"Sure?"

"What do I drink out of? SUN GLASSES!!" *He laughed hysterically. Everyone, except Luna, groaned.*

"I have one!" *They smiled. The group turned to the moon.*

"How does the sun cut his hair? E-clipse it!" *Luna smiled awkwardly. The sun burst out laughing. Phobos was in fits of giggles. Deimos however, looked unamused. Mercury smiled behind his hand.*

"Oh STARS, you're turning into HIM!!!" *Venus hissed, grabbing his hair in frustration.*

"Who wouldn't want to be me??" *The star gleamed, batting his eyelashes at Venus mockingly.*

"Earth?" *She heard Saturn say. His voice sounded very different, to say the least. The once comforting, fashionable and, well, powerful presence of Saturn had been crushed down and thrown away, replaced by this exhausted looking planet she didn't recognize. Everyone around her continued their game, they must not have heard Saturn. She cleared her throat.* "I'll be right back, guys."

"Wha- Okay, be careful." *Luna called out to her upon noticing Saturn and his disheveled appearance.*

*She floated towards Saturn, gazing up at him from across the asteroid belt.*

"Saturn! Whats up?" *She tilted her head, concern growing.*

"I hurt my . . . one of my moons. And then all of them! They must all hate me, I can't even see them, nevermind remember their names..." *He sobbed. The Earth's expression softened.*

"Hey, hey hey . . . It's okay! What do you need from me?" *She looked up at him.*

"How can I remember my moons names?" *His eyes filled with tears.*

"Saturn, everythings fine now. Theres no need to cry." *She flew up and over the asteroid belt to wipe Saturn's tears.*

[SATURN POV:]

"I probably have something somewhere..." *The Earth thought for a second. While searching, she laughed softly.*

"What's... funny?" *Saturn asked weakly.*

*The Earth smiled in response.* "You're not the first gas giant to ask me for help with their moons today."

*A look of recognition lit up over Saturn's features.* "Jupiter..?"

*The Earth nodded, reminiscing.* "He practically BEGGED me to help him. It would've been more funny if, at the time, he didn't scare the living f-... fun out of me." *She pulled out a book from her belongings.* "Found it!"

"Found what?" *Saturn asked nervously.*

"This book has fun facts on almost all of your moons and, I think, their names too. Probably. My Earthlings made it." *She smirked proudly.* "So you keep that, and then that's it! Just use that and you can remember their names easy peasy, lemon squeezy." *She put her hands on her hips.*

"Oh wow." *His eyes twinkled with wonder.* "That's amazing Earth! I'll try it."

*Saturn smiled eagerly, turning around and getting ready to stumble towards his orbit, before the Earth stopped him.*

"One more thing, before I forget." *She tapped his arm gently, causing his hand to feel around for whatever it was she was giving him. Saturn gasped quickly, feeling the rim, the lenses . . . Is this?*

"Be careful, Saturn. They're pretty delicate, and they might need cleaning a lot." *The Earth stated urgently, hands raised in alarm.*

*Saturn placed them on his face, blinking frantically as the Solar System came to life. He glanced around, mouth agape at the beauty of it. The Rocky planets playing card games in Mars' orbit, his lover in his orbit peacefully. Stars, he could admire Jupiter's face now . . . He looked down at the Earth in front of him, her surface becoming clear to him. Her heterochromatic blue and green eyes looking at him eagerly, her surface; green, blue, and white on top. The little satellites circling her, blinking and taking pictures and other things.*

*He started to feel everything becoming blurry again, panicking as it all faded. Oh, wait. That's just him crying. As the first tear fell down his face, the Earth immediately started panicking.*

"OH! I'm so sorry Saturn! Is everything okay with them?!" *She stammered frantically. He nodded quickly, smiling softly.*

"Thank you, Terra. I don't know what I'd do without you."

"Geez, no need to use my old name." *She grumbled.*

"Oops!" *He grinned quickly at the Earth, before bolting off.

.

.

.

*It felt like he'd ran back to his orbit faster than he arrived at the Earth's. Rhea was keeping the moons in check, stopping their fights and quieting them down while the younger moons slept peacefully, which he smiled at.*

"I'm back, uh everyone!" *He announced in a sing-songy voice.* "I have this uh.... Earthling thing to help me remember you all!"

*Many of his moons didn't acknowledge his presence. One face in the crowd, however, encouraged his attempts to make ammends.*

"SATURN!!!! YOU'RE BACK! Woah. What's that? It's so cool!!!!" *Chrysalis squealed, before she faded to nothing. It wasn't the real Chrysalis, he knew that. But it was nice to see her again.*

"All you ever talk about is the Earth, and Titan, gosh." *A small Moon squeaked.*

"When did you get glasses?" *Rhea questioned, before smiling sweetly.* "Honestly, they suit you! And I always had a feeling you couldn't see that well." *She scratched her arms nervously. A few of his larger moons nodded along in agreement.*

"Yeah... I uhm. Can't really see that well. But, the glasses are helping!" *Saturn adjusted them on his face carefully.*

"Anyway, I also brought back this book, and I was hoping it would help me remember your names. So, can we start over?" *Saturn smiled softly, his eyes focusing on their features for the first time since he got his rings.*

"Of course we can start over, Saturn!!!!" *Pandora squeaked eagerly.*

"It's not like we were even mad at you, if I'm being honest. The larger moons are always rude to you, but we just wanted to be included." *Phoebe muttered under her breath.*

"It's alright, little ones. I forgive you! And uhm, I hope you all forgive me." *The moons collectively nodded, yelling out encouragement or apologies, before they all gathered around the open book, trying to spot themselves and what it says about them, before getting excited at something they didn't know about another moon. Rhea smiled at Saturn, and he returned the look sweetly, noticing her frequent, small gestures of affection towards him.*

[TITAN POV:]

"Well, I thought coming to the Moon Club would be more fun, but were down on our numbers clearly." *Titan mumbled, crossing his arms.*

"I think we should go back now. As much as I hate to say it, the younger moons probably got left behind by Saturn already." *Enceladus grumbled.*

.

.

.

*The Saturnian moons agreed eventually. They all moved as a group, back to their planet's orbit. They were expecting the usual chaos and screaming, but were met with humble chatter instead. They glanced around before their eyes fell on Saturn, with every other moon chatting with him about themselves. He answered and seemingly got their names right, as they didn't seem bothered at all.  . . . "Huh. What did we miss?" However, he couldn't help but smile at the sight. It was sweet.*
