"No," Stephen said. "You're not."
The boy went quiet.
"Someone already spent it on you. A long time ago. When you were young." Stephen picked his footing like the floor was ice. "And Peter – whatever they made the world forget about you – "
He stopped. Started over. The kid deserved the truth, even the part Stephen didn't have yet.
"– it's got nothing to do with Spider-Man."
