"I'm going to train," Kageyama announces. "If you happen to find my missing weapons while I'm gone, you can leave them on the table. No questions asked."
"And if I don't?"
"Then I'll assume the mountain spirits have taken a liking to them." Kageyama shoulders past him, and he gets a full whiff of his scent—evergreen and freshly washed steel. "But I should warn you—I only brought spares for the first week. After that, we'll be sharing."
He exits, leaving Shouyou staring after him with his heart hammering against his ribs.
Sharing. Sharing what exactly? Weapons? Space? The futon?
Hinata thought the worst part of his mission would be the freezing mountain safe house or the conspiracy threatening his clan, not sharing one room with Kageyama Tobio, the Shadow Raven jōnin who infuriates him with every rule-obsessed breath. But as winter traps them together and blades give way to whispered confessions, Hinata realizes that surviving the assassination plot might be easier than surviving his own traitorous heart.
