Summary
Pavel once lived for speed. As a professional race car driver, his world was defined by roaring engines, impossible turns, podiums and the certainty that his body would always carry him toward the next finish line. Then a devastating accident changed everything, leaving him in a coma for two years.
When Pavel finally wakes, the world has moved on without him. His racing career is over and recovery is only beginning—He must relearn the simplest things. Still unable to walk and dependent on a wheelchair, Pavel struggles with anger and self-loathing as he grieves the life and independence he lost.
During physical therapy, he meets Pooh. Bright, optimistic and endlessly smiley. Pooh seems determined to make Pavel laugh, even when Pavel insists he isn't in the mood. But Pooh never pities him or treats his progress like a miracle. Instead, he challenges him, supports him and stays beside him on the days recovery feels impossible.
Slowly, Pavel begins to realize that healing isn't about becoming who he was before. Sometimes, the most important journey begins after the finish line.
