    Wifies scoffs at the rules written on the server’s spawn sign, but Hummer takes them as holy scripture.

    As they spend long, quiet nights roaming the empty voxels of the world, Hummer’s glitching screen reflects the warm brown of Wifies’ eyes, the only uncorrupted color left in the world. Hummer pleads with him to open his heart, to stop fighting the current.

    But the closer Wifies gets to faith, the more he realizes the hum in Hummer's throat sounds less like a machine, and more like a whale song echoing from the bottom of the ocean.
