Summary
The Harbinger—Cross—has broken free of his prison. The old stories have long warned of the end of the world, and yet they do not come even slightly close to capturing the ruin that follows. But he does not destroy everything. Instead, he makes a simple demand of the world: Bring him the one he seeks, and he will spare all life. A ravenous search for the sacrifice in question begins.
The sacrifice turns out to be Dream.
OR: Cross has a perfectly reasonable response to losing Dream for a thousand years. He has another perfectly reasonable way to find him.
