Wow, Etsy Witches Really Do Work

Summary:

"You remind me of my soulmate," Agott huffed, despite the underlying fondness in what she said. "they also constantly update me about their day."

"Oh really? I'm sure we'd get along great if we ever met." Coco hummed thoughtfully.

Arkco Week 2026 Day 4: Soulmates

Work Text:

Coco was eager to visit the city's main art museum. Today was the opening day for the 'History of Textiles' Exhibit. While growing up with her mother who ran a tailoring shop in a quieter part of the city, she naturally developed an interest in textiles. This was her main reason for visiting the exhibit.

Her second reason for going out was that her friend Ininia had told her that she needed to get out more, or she would quote, "never find her soulmate and probably die alone with a bunch of cats." Coco shuddered as she walked through the entrance of the museum, still remembering the menacing glare Ininia had given her.

The sound of the lift's closing indicator caught her attention, and her head snapped up to look at the doors, which were already sliding shut.

"Wait! please hold the lift!" Coco yelled, waving her arms around frantically, her smaller strides turning into a sprint.

The girl inside blinked, stretching her arm out in-between the doors before they closing so that they could retract. She steered to the side as Coco sprinted inside, almost running into the back wall.

"Thank you so much," she panted, "I for sure thought I'd miss out on the new exhibit's opening day."

"You're welcome." The stranger nodded politely.

The lift moves up a few floors but then jolts and comes to an abrupt stop, the pair yelped, catching themselves on the railings as they stumbled from the sudden movement. They were then plunged into darkness for a few seconds before the emergency lights came flickering on.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me did the lift seriously get stuck?" Agott groaned "I can't be stuck in here all day, I have sketches to finish for my unit project." She slumped against the wall of the lift, sliding down to sit on the floor.

Coco looked at the other girl sympathetically for a few seconds before pulling her bag open. She rummaged around for a few moments before pulling out her phone. Sometimes in other lifts she'd have signal on the rare occasion so she hoped it would be the same here. Her eyebrows furrowed upon seeing the no service icon. She slipped her phone back into her bag and shoved her hands into her coat pockets, leaning back against the wall with a sigh.

Coco gasped upon feeling something in her pocket, and pulled out a pen. "Don't worry! I just remembered that I always carry a pen around with me, I like to update my soulmate through the day about the things I do!" she sprung off of the wall onto her heels "I can write to them about the situation asking for help!"

"You remind me of my soulmate," Agott huffed, despite the underlying fondness in what she said. "they also constantly update me about their day."

"Oh really? I'm sure we'd get along great if we ever met." Coco hummed absentmindedly.

She then shrugged off her coat and placed it at her feet so she could write the message easier. She then swiftly uncapped the pen before pulling back the sleeve to her jumper and spoke out loud as she scribbled message across her forearm.

"I need help, the lift by the sculpture room in the city's museum got stuck. I'm with someone else, could call someone who works here pretty please."

Across from her Agott's head shot up with widened eyes as she felt the familiar sensation of words blooming across ski. "There's no way." she mumbled.

"Hey, uhm are you okay?"

Agott didn't reply, quickly pulling back her own sleeve to see the exact words Coco had spoken aloud just a few moments prior. She stared at her arm in disbelief.

"Wait, what is it?" Coco leaned forward, her own eyes widening as she saw her own handwriting across the strangers forearm.

Their eyes met, staring at each other in silence.

"You're Coco?"

"You're Agott?"

The pair blurted out in unison.

Coco thought of what to say for a few seconds, to remedy the awkward silence. "wow.. this certainly is a coincidence—"

Agott let out a gasp of realisation, hands slamming onto the floor. "I didn't think it would actually work."

Coco blinked a few times and tilted her head. "you didn't think what would work?"

"Around a month or so ago I paid an etsy witch to do a soulmate meeting spell." Agott looked away. "I wanted to know who was writing practically non-stop all the time."

"Wow. I guess it did work, well it's lovely to finally meet you!"

"Oh uhm yeah, nice to officially meet you too." she murmured taken aback by Coco's sudden enthusiasm.

Coco's eyes wandered a loud gasp following soon after. "Oh wait! We forgot about he emergency button!" Coco exclaimed. She quickly leant to the side and pressed the button.

She turned to face Agott, almost shy. "So… when we get out of here would you maybe like to visit the textiles exhibit with me?"

A small smile spread across Agott's lips. "Sure, I'd like that."

Notes:

Fun-fact! I wrote this in a few hours after realising my original day 4 fic was starting to lead up to be a confession fic (my prompt for day 6). So I decided to use this idea instead! (It was originally going to be a standalone oneshot I was going to work on sometime after Arkco week ended.)

If you guys ever want to see some of my Arkco Week wips I post them on my twt under the same name! SuryBug
