She meets Peter Parker at 5am on a football field in September, and somehow that becomes the whole story.
Not immediately. First it becomes Thursdays, and then it becomes Ned, and then it becomes Halloween costumes and chemistry homework and banana bread at May's kitchen table and a backpack webbed to a trash can in a Queens alley. First it becomes the specific education of learning someone so thoroughly you could pick their laugh out of any room, their handwriting off any page, the exact weight of their silence depending on what it means.
Then it becomes Michigan.
She leaves in February 2016 with her scarf still on his nightstand and something unfinished sitting between them that neither of them had the time to name.
Years later, by the kind of coincidence that doesn't feel like coincidence at all, she ends up in the apartment across the hall from Peter Parker in a building in Queens. He is not fifteen anymore. Neither is she. The sunrise habit comes back first, because some things are structural. The rest follows slowly, the way it always did with them, without announcement, without ceremony, just suddenly there.
It was always going to end up here.
It just took a while to arrive.
