Summary:

Legs comes across some... interesting information

Work Text:

Legs wove through the empty hallways of the Academy, Gadget running behind him as they reached the exit, breaking out into the sunlight that shone through the light clouds. He, Megii, Amber, and Juniper were going to head to the capital to do a quick bit of shopping, but he had beat them to the front of the Academy.

That, or they had already left without him.

Either were possible.

He pulled a small container of leftover noodles from his bag, popping it open and shoving a few forkfuls into his mouth while he waited. Gadget meandered around the front of the Academy, flapping around with his now-larger wings. The tatters near the ends was something that still concerned Legs, but it didn't seem to be… hindering him at all.

Maybe it'd be fine.

After a few minutes, the doors to the Academy opened, and out came Megii, Amber, and Juniper. Orchid and Glyph were with them, but Pinecone was noticably absent from Juniper's side.

Legs waved with his fork, swallowing the last mouthful of noodles before talking. "There you guys are."

"How long have you been out here?" Amber asked, watching as Gadget bounded over to Orchid and Glyph, all three dragons beginning to prance around excitedly.

He shrugged. "Just a few minutes. Ready?"

Everyone agreed, and the four of them started on the path away from the Academy, the three dragons keeping pace around them, wandering in and out of the trees and chasing each other.

For the most part, the journey was silent until they reached the caravans, which they had decided to pass on instead of taking towards the Capital.

And that's when Megii broke the silence.

"Sooo, Legs… Is there anything going on with you?" she asked very awkwardly. "Maybe something you want to share?"

He knew exactly what she was doing.

Legs sighed. "Megii, everyone here knows."

"Oh, great." She turned to look at him. "Lukey?! Really?!"

"I don't need to hear this again-"

"Lukey also isn't the worst person he could've picked," Juniper pointed out. "Amber told me that the Duke was flirting with you while he was here."

He groaned. "Do not remind me of that."

"Using the Duke as a standard is also a really bad idea," Amber said. "Everyone is better than the Duke."

"Who would you have suggested then?" Legs looked at the three of them.

Juniper put their hands up. "Hey, I have no issue with you and Lukey, that's a question for them."

"Molly's nice." Megii suggested.

"I've barely spoken to her."

"What about Michela then?" Amber offered.

Legs looked at her. "…No. Just—no. For the same reason I wouldn't date you."

She gave him an offended look. "What's wrong with me?!"

"You said you wouldn't date me either, so I don't wanna hear it."

"…Fair. What about Shelby?"

Legs had the opportunity to do something really funny.

He hummed. "You know… Suggesting I date women when I actively have a boyfriend is kinda biphobic, guys."

Juniper burst out laughing as Amber sputtered, Megii looking confused for a moment before covering her face with her hands.

"I- that was not- Legs!"

He laughed. "I finally get to use that, you have no idea how long I've been waiting."

"Wait, what about Oli then?" Juniper asked once her laughter had calmed down.

"What about Oli?" he raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, yeah, doesn't he have a massive crush on you?" Megii said.

"…What."

"Yeah apparently you threatened him with a knife and he thought it was-" Amber cut Megii off by covering her mouth with her hand, not letting her finish the sentence.

Legs blinked a few times. "I'm sorry, what?"

Juniper had a slightly sheepish look on her face. "IIIII don't think we were supposed to say that."

"Yeah, I don't think you were."

Oli liked him?

Legs was going to be honest, he and Oli… hadn't spoken that much. Their first big interaction had been in the Lab, and that was two months ago.

It didn't help that Oli was asleep most of the time.

"Did he like—Did he tell you this?" Legs raised his eyebrows at them.

Megii pried Amber's fingers off of her mouth. "Yeah, he knew we were friends and like—wanted our opinion. I think."

…That didn't make him any less confused.

Oli liked him?

Oli.

…What??????

The four of them had reached the Capital, now passing through the streets in the awkward silence that followed the conversation.

…Good lord.
