Walking in the Rain

Summary:

Ollie likes the rain, Esteban loves Ollie.

Pain on Pavement

Work Text:

Ollie loved the rain, sitting at the window in their apartment and watching it calmed something inside him. Esteban was in the kitchen, cleaning up from breakfast. Ollie didn’t even notice Esteban coming in, too focused on the rain rolling down the window, until Esteban was sitting on the opposite side of the reading nook.

“Can we take a walk?” Ollie asked, briefly turning to look at Esteban before looking back out the window.

“It’s raining Ollie.” Esteban said, like that answered Ollie’s question.

“Please, just for a few minutes.”

“Fine, but dress warmly. Don’t need you getting sick on me.” Esteban stood up, pressing a kiss against Ollie’s cheek before heading to their bedroom.

It wasn’t long until the two were dressed and ready, raincoat and boots on. Ollie was excited, grabbing Esteban’s hand as the two walked down the street. Ollie couldn’t be happier, the rain was more of a mist now but he still enjoyed it. The slight chill in the air, Esteban’s warm palm in his own, and the scent of fresh rain. To Ollie it was a perfect start to the day.

“See isn’t this nice?” Ollie said. It was still early and with it being a weekend and bad weather there were not many people out at this point and time.

“Yeah it is. Just because I’m here with you.” Esteban said, gently squeezing Ollie’s hand in his own.

“Sap.” Ollie said but could feel himself blushing at the comment.

The walk was just what the two needed. The rain didn’t pick up again, just a gentle mist that made the pavement wet and allowed the smell of wet earth to linger in the air. The more they walked the more Esteban understood why Ollie’s always loved the rain. It was calming being together, just the two of them taking a walk in the early morning. They should be heading back, needing to change and get their morning workout in but neither seemed too rushed to get back. They didn’t get much time together like this and were both going to soak it in, even if they were getting wet in the process.
