“Ego-san! This is so amazing!” Anri beamed as she looked around the room with the VR goggles that had just come in amongst Blue Lock’s equipment.
Ego crossed his arms and tried not to smile at how cute she looked flailing her arms around in front of her.
“It’s like I’m in an actual jungle!” Anri continued. “Or, wait, no, a rainforest? AHH!”
She yelped when she accidentally bumped into her desk, causing the headset to slip off.
Ego chuckled with amusement. Anri pouted.
“Stop laughing at me!” she huffed. “I’m not used to all this… VR stuff.”
“I figured. We’re both relics, aint we?” Ego replied and approached her with a teasing grin.
“RELICS?! I’m 22, for God’s sake!” she glared at him playfully.
“Right, right.” Ego shrugged.
Anri glanced down at the VR headset and smirked. She grabbed it and slipped it over his eyes.”
“Wha- Anri-chan! Take that off!” he grumbled.
“Too late!” she grinned and spun him around so he could bump into a corner of the room just as she did.
“Ow! Oi!” Ego snapped as he practically fell back and crashed into Anri’s arms.
The woman giggled and lifted the headset off of his face. He glared at her, which only made her giggle more.
“Who’s the relic now?”
“Oh, shut up, Anri-chan.” Ego grunted. He removed the headset and stared at it for a while. Anri blinked in confusion.
“What’s wrong, Ego-san?”
“Hmm, nothing.” He shrugged and tossed the headset away. “Just thinking about who needs VR for something other than soccer.”
“Eh? I thought you’d be big into this whole technology AI stuff.”
“Only for certain things. It can’t replace everything.”
“Oh? Like what?”
Ego paused for a second and stared down at Anri.
“Your face.”
Anri’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates before she glared and pointed at him.
“HUH?! Is that supposed to be some sort of insult?!”
Ego turned away, suddenly more aloof than before. “Take it how you want it. I’m not repeating myself.”
Anri huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. “I never know how to take what you say, Ego-san.”
“Hm, maybe I should be more blunt.” He glanced back at her, and Anri thought she was schizophrenic when she spotted the faint flush on his pale cheeks.
He groaned and pushed his glasses up before pointing at her, “It was a compliment, Anri-chan.”
She stood there with her mouth agape.
“Wait, so… AI can’t replace my… face?”
“Yes. because it’s unique.” Ego huffed.
Anri’s shocked expression turned into a mischievous grin. “Unique? Says you.”
Ego gulped. His heart raced. Did Anri finally compliment him? Did she find his face irreplaceable…?
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Mine wasn’t a compliment.”
“Oh, piss off, Anri-chan!”
“Hehe! I should use that VR to give you a better face!”
“Shut it!”
