Chapter Text
A cat café....
For some people it might be something amazing and a great way to spend time with friends and also with cute furry animals but for Mr. Krabs it's a waste of money. He only came here because SpongeBob invited all of them here and said he's going to pay, so who would he be if he refused free food?
When SpongeBob opened the door to the cafe, they were greeted by staff dressed in adorable outfits. They explained what they could and couldn't do, which cats they could pet, and which were off-limits. The place was really nicely decorated in shades of green and powder pink. There were shelves everywhere for the cats to walk on, like paths. There were also scratching posts and various types of cat beds in many places. Of course, we cannot forget about the toys, on the floor there were balls, sticks with ribbons and plush toys filled with catnip.
When everyone sat down at the special, enlarged table, because there were quite a few of them, they immediately started looking around and observing the kitties.
Everyone suddenly found a cat they especially liked, Sandy liked the Siamese cat that was walking under her feet, rubbing against her shoes. Squidward was obviously fascinated by one of the most sophisticated cats, In this case it was a white Maine Coon. He said it suited his serious personality. And Patryk became good friends with a pink Sphynx cat because he said he looked like a pig. The organizer of the entire meeting, of course, reached an agreement with each kitten.
And what did Eugene think about all this?
He sat with his arms crossed and sipped coffee that SpongeBob had bought (of course).
"I don't understand, how can ye get so attached to a cat? The only thing I get attached to is me money. That's it."
He said and then drank the rest of his coffee.
"Come on boss you have to at least try! They are so cute!"
"Aye, they might be cute but all a cat is, is a waste of money! They know how to squeeze the last cent out of ye, ESPECIALLY IN A PLACE LIKE THIS! 15 DOLLARS FOR A COFFEE!? Dear Neptune."
He puts his hand over his heart, trying to fake a heart attack.
"You didn't pay for any of these things, you miser..."
Squidward said while eating his fancy cheesecake, rolling his eyes.
"And it's still very painful"
Eugene then looked around a bit, watching some cats climb onto scratching posts and some playing with each other, running on the floor, and that's when he noticed it.
On one of the shelves there was some kind of a plush cave for cats, and at first you would probably think that there was nothing inside, but then a glowing green eyeball showed up. And out of curiosity the creature poked its head out as if it wanted to check the surroundings. The cat was completely black, that might be why at first it couldn't be seen inside the den.
It was a rather old-looking cat, but it wasn't the age that surprised Krabs, but it was the cat's face that took his breath away. The cat had only one eye, and in place of the left one there was a rather large scar that severely changed its face, the cat looked at them with uncertainty. Eugene looked at the animal and realized who it reminded him of..... Sheldon Plankton. That black fur(well in Sheldon's case it would be hair), green eye, and especially the scar really reflected his enemy and former best friend. For some reason he couldn't look away, and his chest felt tight with a strange feeling.
Apparently, the employee noticed that he was staring intently at the animal. She approached and smiled friendly.
"I see you noticed Pirate."
Eugene looks at her.
"Pirate?"
"He came to us here some time ago, he is older than some of our cats and he doesn't really like people after being abandoned by his previous owner. When we found him he was in really bad shape. Now we are trying to convince him to be more trusting, but he very rarely leaves that place..."
This was truly ridiculous... Abandoned by his previous owner... That sounds pretty familiar. Even the name "Pirate", that's literally what Sheldon calls him when they argue: "you're just a money grabbing pirate Krabs!" Sheldon also stopped trusting people after they stopped being friends, he locked himself in a metal building and haven't talk to anyone except for arguing with Eugene. Mr. Krabs began to feel more and more guilty, he slowly got up from his seat and walked closer to the shelf.
"You've been through a lot, haven't ye, little one? It really sucks when...you're treated unfairly..."
He was quiet for a moment and watched as the kitten retreated back to the center of the cat cave. His facial expression definitely said "stay away from me, I don't like people like you" at least that's how the restaurant owner understood it. He reached out his large, rough hand and extended a finger to the cat, who surprisingly stretched out his muzzle slightly to sniff him.
"Sir wait! He mig-"
And before the worker could protect him, the cat sank its teeth into his finger, drawing blood. Then the signal turned and returned to its safe spot, turning its back to the others.
"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! I should have told you that he might bite. Are you okay?"
She said worried as she looked closer to check the injury, but meanwhile Eugene didn't move a muscle and kept staring at the cat.
"oh no Mr Krabs! You're bleeding!"
SpongeBob says.
Eugene looks at his big finger blood was slowly getting out of the wound, then he looks at the worried woman. He gives her a small smile.
"There's nothing to apologize for gal. I should have been more understanding and not touch an injured comrade. Who can blame the lad for biting after being so mistreated?"
The rest of the friends looked at him quite surprised... Usually, a big boss who only cares about money would probably explode with anger, but in this case, he didn't. He even looked quite sad as he looked at the now very upset cat.
"Eugene you good?"
Sandy asks petting the cat next to her and after hearing the questions Eugene immediately straighten up and cleared his throat.
"UH....Yes, ofcorse! Why wouldn't I be fine? I am perfectly fine. I just got so upset over the fact, of how much having a cat must cost. L-LET'S GO !"
He turned on his heel and left the cafe, looked at each other confused.
"He doesn't like cats?"
Patrick says as he lays on the floor amongst cats crawling on top of him.
