Chapter 1: Unexpected Encounter

Chapter Text

 ミ — 🐞 , 🌀

The broken sobs echoed off the balcony of the Dupain-Cheng Bakery. A blue-haired girl's heart shattered at having to leave the love of her life because of her duties and secrets.

Her throat burnt, a sour taste intruding whenever she tried swallowing her tears. her eyes stung, puffy and red. Her hands shook with every trembling breath.

She gripped the pink shorts and kept sobbing into the wet, black sleeves of her dusty jacket.  Her fingers were stained with wet tears from the desperate wiping, she was breaking apart in the cold wind.

She sniffled her nose, doing nothing to stop the pour of tears and hopelessness she felt in her bitter heart.

Thump, thump..

Purple flashes, approaching her faster than she anticipated.

Whatever, a liar deserves this.

Pretty hypocritical, huh?

Lying to her friends and lover, All to protect the person she loves,

Only to be the one who hurt him the most.

...How pathetic.

"CATACLYSM!"

Patrolling the streets of Paris was always a nice thing.. To Chat Noir, at least. It left the burden of all of the chores and the crushing weight of expectations behind that bedroom and ensued a new, much more free willed life. Jumping between buildings, overlooking sundown while sitting on rooftops, feeling the heat of a summer afternoon was so relaxing, as if nothing else mattered.

However, this was different. Now, not even the sun shined, covered by thunderous clouds rampaging a downpour on the civilians. Quite fitting.

None the less, No warmth or cold could touch the utter confusion, rage, sadness, shock, or any other emotion in the book that held his heart in a cage of needles and ice.

He sat on the same roof that saw the most hopeful version of him, now, it was just empty. Chat noir blankly stared at the horizon. Maybe looking for an emergency, or a butterfly? At least that's what he liked to say.

Wallowing in self-pity was a bit new to Chat Noir. Instead, he liked taking it out on villains, or focusing that rage into motivation for his studies as a civilian, talking to his friends. He had a therapist, Dr. Perrine Psiquat, to talk about his feelings, but instead of doing those, he's stuck here..

Little kitty on the roof.

Flutter flutter..

A distinct chime caught his attention. An ultrakuma? Wow, finally these patrols have paid off. Chat noir followed the akuma, jumping through the steel heights of Paris.

Before spotting an obnoxiously familiar building the butterfly had been leading to.

The Dupain-Cheng Bakery?!

He jumped through, determined to catch the akuma, before nearly stopping when he saw a trembling figure laid on the middle of the terrace, her sleeves were wet, her hair was ruffled, and her face was hidden in those same soaked arms he recognised far too well. His lover. And before even thinking..

"CATACLYSM!"
