Chapter Text
The air in the crypt was cold with a lack of joy it had once held. And it was REALLYYY muggy.
Scott rises from the coffin, confused and concerned, How long did that stupid curse last? Was his coven safe? Was he?
He shakes of the feeling deciding to attack the day and hope no one was too worried..The steps creaked and cracked, the heels of his boots clicking with each step till he reached the top of the spiral.
In fact no one was worried. Because there wasn't anybody to worry, nor was there much of the castle. He looks around for a bit before following the path down to Oakhurst, hoping that damned town also lay in ruin. However, the lands aren't empty, there are twelve other souls in that town many of whom were far from human, as well as a fledgling alone.
The morning sun rises slowly, the great pines rustling slightly with a light breeze. Sunlight gently gliding through the leaves, glittering the ground with light. Creatures roam the plains, hooves and paws crunching the leaves alike. He follows the path, cursing the dust being kicked up with each step, before getting interrupted by the tree he'd ignored before almost running into it. Eventually he makes it to the town, chatter everywhere but the atmosphere was cold and-
“HELLOOOO THERE!! I’m Shelby! Nice to meet you!” A girl runs up to him, offering a hand, wide, kind and bright yellow eyes gleaming,
"Oh! Why hello there, I'm Scott, Scott Goldsmith, nice to meet you as well-" He takes their hand, and gets jostled by Shelby's excited handshake,
“Have you been here before?! Have you ever met Bigfoot?!” She asks already bright eyes lighting up
"My family and I come from here yes, but I've not seen Big foot-" He pauses as Shelby's expression waivers slightly "-But I haven't been here since I was a kid, and I've heard stories ‽" with that, Shelby starts bouncing more than before
"I knew it! I knew he's real!" They grin, hugging Scott who laughs
Why he said that? No one knows, not even him, but Shelby was happy so that was okay. The two go on chatting about everything and nothing, deciding to live together. Though Scott only planned to stay temporarily, it was still nice to have company.
A brown haired girl with a monocle runs up beside Shelby with a smile, “Shelby! There you are! I was looking for you!” She laughed extending a hand to Scott, "I'm Drift, you?"
He takes the hand and shakes it, Drift visibly shivering from how cold his hands were, "Scott, Scott Goldsmith"
“Oh Drift! I saw someone else come through and wanted to say hi!” She said gleefully, they wave to Scott following Drift to wherever to chat
As Scott walks around, he over hears someone discussing the past of the supernatural magnet Oakhurst once was, he turns the corner to see it's Pyro and Renhart, Ren talking about vampires and his knowledge, if you could even call it that, on the 'creatures of the night'. Greeaat

A little later, as the sun begins it's descent, the town converged around the 'beacon' a few people poking and prodding it, until someone places a hand down on it and starts "consecrating" it, however, the second he nears it-
"What happened?" A blonde man, Martyn he thinks, looks around
it disrupted
Oh and
"Ye blue haired lad disrupted the light" An older man, Ren pointed at him, with a look as if looking through him into his soul
Luckily for him, Cleo, the one whom had been farming removed their hand just as he entered, giving him a pass this time, but that wasn't always going to be the case, and he'd rather not get staked.

Okay, Scott believes he’s met everyone now, but 2, the one dressed like a butler, and a proper meeting with the lumberjack. He decides to try and find them and introduce himself, hopefully find the fledgling sooner rather than later,
He spots the butler looking one and greets him with a smile and a hand, "I don't believe we've met, I'm Scott, Scott Goldsmith-" he pauses just for barely a moment, realizing the nature of the other. Crud "what's your name?"
"Abolish." He shakes his hand, dark eyes practically staring a hole through his skull
Right. So a Fae has his name and now knows practically everything. Mhm, yep greeaatt.
And- and he's gone, great, even better.

A little while later after more interactions and some odd people being, well odd, Scott decided to head out and get food, blood for him and some other stuff for Shelby when he spotted the lumberjack, the one who must be the fledgling. He approaches the other with a smile
"Why hello there, you are the lumberjack yes? I'm Scott, Scott Goldsmith, you are?" he offers a hand to the other
The fledgling’s head snapped up, "Owen, what do you want." Owen turns and hesitantly shakes his hand, carefully avoiding the elder’s eyes,
“I would like to do get some wood, may you join me, Owen? I believe we should get to know each other” He gestured to the forest, the other sighed but he put his axe in its holder and ended up walking with him.
