Colds and Cuddles

Summary:

Evan is still pregnant and gets a common cold.

Day 9 Sicktember 2026: Alt prompt, Tucked in bed.

Fifth fic for omegaverse series, can be read as a stand alone.

Notes:

so, I had like no ideas about today besides NOT a snow storm fic. I think this works out fine. It's kinda funny how the new stories for this series end up being apart of different challenges and that's what's inspired me to keep writing this series for a concept I made up randomly.

I hope you all enjoy these series! Onto tomorrow: Day 10, "Stop getting out of bed!" I have no ideas yet but I'm sure I'll figure out something.

Toodles!

Work Text:

Evan is still pregnant and gets a common cold. You’d think he was on death’s door by the way his Diaz boys are reacting. Eddie has brought the pharmacy to him, taken his temperature on the hour every hour for the past two days. Chris is tasked with bringing him water and making sure he’s resting. Look, he loves these boys dearly. He’s bonded to Eddie for a reason. But both boys hovering is getting on every single one of his nerves. Chris is fine, for the most part. He’s a kid, they cuddle and watch movies together even though Buck’s afraid he’ll get Chris sick. At this argument, Chris reminds Buck that he gave Buck the cold so he’s already immune, basically. Buck doesn’t have the brain power to dispute that claim at the moment.

Eddie is hovering like mad. He’s called Bobby three times to make sure they’re both off of work and begging for a simple soup recipe he can make for his lover. Bobby chuckles deeply, walking Eddie through the process of making a simple soup over the course of an hour. Athena is also amused by this, watching her husband facetime their son in law, frantically cooking. “Eddie, he’s not gonna starve if you don’t finish the soup in five minutes.”
“It needs to be good. He’s growing a person and he’s sick. This has to work.” He’s almost growling at this point, his voice carrying the edge he’s been on all day.

“Why don’t I come by later with some other kinds of soup and check on you guys?”
“That would be fantastic. Thank you.”

Bobby stops by later, announcing himself at the door. He can smell the sickness, stress, and unease even at the front door. He slides his shoes off, putting his bag in the kitchen. He calls out for a family member, not hearing anyone. He and Eddie were just texting, what the hell?

He knocks on their bedroom door, smelling the strongest scents, presuming they’re all together. He pokes his head in, finding the cutest scene he’s ever seen. Buck is laying in the middle of the bed, sleeping. Eddie is laying on the side closest to the door, one arm wrapped protectively over him and the baby, dead to the world. Chris is on the other side, also asleep, turned towards Buck, situated between his arm and chest. Bobby debates taking a picture, then takes one, even if it’s only for the family in front of him. He grabs a blanket off the floor, tucking it around all three of them. He reckons it must be a kings sized blanket given how it covers all three of them with some extra. He smooths out the edges, making sure to cover all three pairs of feet. He stands there for just a moment, seeing the boy he met all those years ago develop into the wonderful, family man he is now. He wipes a stray tear away as he walks to the kitchen. He puts the Tupperware away, does a couple dishes, then locks up and leaves his pup and mate to their well deserved nap time.
