Chapter Text

october 8th, 1988

Ram pulled on his helmet, adjusting his shoulder pads before doing so.

Today was the first game, Ram's second year of linebacker.

He couldn't wait.

“Alright, Rottweilers! What are we gonna do to the Razorbacks tonight?” Coach Ripper called out, walking into the locker room.

“Gonna beat their asses!” called out a senior, making Coach Ripper roll his eyes.

Ram grinned, cheering with his best friend since kindergarten - Kurt Kelly.

“Hell yeah!” Ram shouted, then began walking out with the rest of the team.

The team walked onto the field, a red ‘R’ in the middle of the field.

The Westerburg kids cheered, whiled the Jefferson County kids booed.

The stadium was full of noises, including the band playing their fight song.

Ram grinned at his favorite drummer - Henry Larson. They had passed each other everyday for the last year.

“Huddle up!” Coach Ripper announced, making all the players gather around him. “Beat their asses, score that touchdown, we win, huge celebration.”

The whole team nodded and got in positions, with Ram right next to Kurt.

6:00 PM

Halftime. Ram and the rest of the team walked off the field, chattering and talking to each other.

“Yo, if we win, I dare you to kiss a band kid!” Kurt whispered to Ram, grinning behind his helmet.

“Really? Bet.” Ram smiled, glancing over to the band getting in formation.

“It has to be a senior though.” Kurt chuckled taking off his helmet.

“There's only two seniors!” Ram muttered, grabbing his water bottle.

“I know!” Kurt exclaimed, laughing. “Yo, Ben, Ram's gonna kiss a senior!”

“Really?” Ben shouted back, walking over to the two. “I wanna see!”

-

7:09 PM.

The game had ended.

Westerburg won.

“Hell yeah!” Ram exclaimed, throwing his helmet off.

Kurt glanced at Ram, nodding.

The boy groaned, then ran over to the band.

He ran up into the stands and grabbed the senior he saw first - a drummer.

He slammed their lips together, making the other boy yelp in shock.

Ram pulled away, wide eyed, as he saw that he had kissed Henry Larson - the dude that he had the fattest crush on.

“Holy shit.” Ram muttered, staring into the eyes of the man he just kissed.

Henry set his drum down and quickly kissed Ram back, not caring about the gasps from “ rest of the 487 watchers in the stadium.

“You're cute.” Henry giggled against Ram's lips, causing the younger boy to blush.

“No I'm not.” Ram , shutting Henry up with another kiss.

A kid right in front of the two turned around and stared in shock, then leaned over to his mother. “Mommy, can I like a boy?”

“No. It's-It's unholy.” the mother whispered, watching as Henry and Ram kissed right in front of her son.

A cheerleader for the Razorbacks stared at the boys, then grabbed the other cheerleader closest to her and did the same as Henry and Ram.

Parents pulled their children away, some even screamed.

And in the end, Henry and Ram ended up with the field all to themselves.
