“I will make a pyre for him,” Anderson spoke across the cabin, pulling the Creature from his musings. His attention drifted to the Captain to find him watching over the corpse solemnly, like he too mourned him with what brief time they knew each other. “Or grant him a burial at sea, once we break the ship off the ice. Perhaps the pyre would make for a more reverent parting.”
The Creature couldn't argue with that. He thought the idea bittersweet, to be set ablaze on a bed of timber, the elements taking root of skin and flesh and bone, until one becomes but ash and wind.
For dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return.
