Work Text:

"Are you sure they'll be alright?" Eddie asked as Buck escorted him into the restaurant. It wasn't that he didn't trust Buck's godfather, but this was Chris they were talking about.

"They'll be fine," Buck reassured him. Crowley and Aziraphale had volunteered to babysit Chris so that he and Eddie could go out on a proper date. He was thankful, of course, but also understood Eddie's reservations, as he didn't know the couple that well. "Crowley practically raised me since I was twelve. He'll be fine with Chris."

"And Aziraphale?" Eddie asked as they were shown to their table.

"Oh, he's as upright an angel; I'm sure he'll be a good influence on Chris." Buck said, holding back a laugh at his own play on words. He was sure Crowley would approve.

"Alright," Eddie accepted his menu and Buck did the same.

"But we can text them throughout, if you'd like," Buck offered. He knew Eddie would rather leave Chris with Carla or his family — people he knew better — but they had all had plans tonight. And thanks to work and their own plans, tonight was the only night in the next two weeks when Buck and Eddie could squeeze in this date.

"You wouldn't think I'm ignoring you?" Eddie asked.

"Nah. I'd want to check in on them too," Buck said easily.

Eddie gave him a thankful grin, and then turned to his menu. "Okay, we'll give them 20 minutes, and then we'll text."

"Sounds perfect."

"How can a simple recipe be so complicated!" Aziraphale complained, frowning at the pot that was supposed to contain Chris's dinner of mac and cheese. Only it was now a solid lump of inedible orange rock.

Chris laughed brightly while Crowley chuckled.

"You have to taste it to make sure," Chris said cheerfully, with a grin that said he already knew it wouldn't be good.

Crowley loved this kid. "Yeah angel, you need to check it yourself," he goaded.

Aziraphale shot him a look, but he managed to pry off a piece of the supposed mac and cheese and tasted it. The face he made resulted in a raft of giggles from Chris, and a smug grin from Crowley.

The angel threw his hands up in defeat. "I don't even know how it got this way, but it certainly is not edible."

"Pizza it is then," Crowley said with a fond sigh. He'd tried to get Aziraphale to let him do the cooking, since the angel tended to eat out all his meals, but he'd insisted on doing it himself, the mortal way.

And look where that had got him.

Crowley quickly ordered the pizza on his phone, having done so many times while Evan was working on his PT.

"What do we do while we wait for it to get here?" Chris asked.

Crowley knew his homework had already been done that afternoon with his carer, Carla, and they wouldn't have enough time to watch a movie while they waited. Eddie had been quite strict that they couldn't eat in the living room, so it wasn't like they could eat the pizza while finishing the movie.

Suddenly, an evil idea occurred to Crowley, and he grinned conspiratorially at Chris. "Do you want to hear stories about when Evan was younger?"

Chris cackled. "Blackmail, yes!"

Crowley's grin widened. He really loved this kid. And he was the perfect revenge for all the suffering that Evan had put Crowley through over the years.

"Well, let me tell you about the time he decided to buy a motorcycle, despite never having ridden on one before…"
