    Jude never lost his strangeness, no matter how long he lived with Erling in the castle. It was as though he had truly sprang from somewhere deep in the woods.

    He never learned to speak, and seemed minimally bothered by it. He disdained all but the most cursory of clothes, preferred his food unsauced and often uncooked, and drank whatever and whenever he pleased, most of all wine. And, of course, he took every opportunity to get a good, hard fucking out of Erling; liked being taken from behind, on his back, against the wall, in a featherbed, it made no difference to him. He was insatiable, like a wild animal wearing the skin of a human.
