Ilya
Nervous one way to describe how Ilya felt after moving countries again , freaking the fuck out was another but he sure as shit wouldn't tell anybody about it.
He woke up bright and early for his interview with SportsNet carefully thinking about certain responses he would have to give regarding his "sudden" move to Ottawa. None of these fuckers knew how long he's been waiting for this and that secretly gave him a little bit of joy.
As he got ready, he couldn't help but look down at Shane and smile , his sweet Shane who was finally able to just rest. He hadn't seen Shane look this peaceful in a long while , maybe a handful of times since the beginning of whatever it is they were..love he thinks, but that's besides the point. He quickly kisses his boyfriend's forehead , a tiny little peck before he made his way downstairs and set up his laptop to take the call.
He sat in their living room and not in the office hoping this would be more like a 20 minute thing .He recieves the call and jumps into it energy high hoping he's masking the fatigue he's felt through this season. He thinks its going pretty well and while the interviewer was talking, something about rehabilitating the centaurs and his plan to establish them as a serious playoff contender(see ilya was definitely listening), he hears shane walking downstairs, and his eyes couldnt help but follow him down. He manages to pull himself together and slip back into interview mode, answering the questions with genuine honesty, though not without the occasional quip that earns a few muffled laughs from the crew behind the cameras.
Shane
The birds are chirping and the sun is shining in suburban Ottawa where Shane Hollander is attempting but giving up on continuing his sleep. As he gets up, he all but limps to the bathroom still feeling the soreness from yesterdays "activities". He glances down at his phone to see
Monday February 1st
10:00 AM
It was one of those rare days where Shane and Ilya's scheduled breaks overlapped and they had five , yes FIVE whole days together in nothing but domestic bliss. Shane wasn't stupid, he knew there was a world out there , outside of the bubble he'd created with his boyfriend but he was more than willing to pretend it was just the two of them for this week.
Which is why he was intrigued as he heard Ilya speaking to somebody, rather professionally might he add.Curious, and also because he was incapable of minding his own business, Shane eventually dragged himself out of bed and made his way downstairs. As he sauntered downstairs lazily, rubbing his eyes , stretching his body that was still groggy from his absolutely magnificent night of sleep after his boyfriend demolished him.
He catches Ilya in the living room seemingly doing an interview online. Oh that's right, shane totally forgot this was an interview he'd had scheduled for a while to talk about his future at the Ottawa Centaurs.Shane makes his way to the kitchen to make his daily morning smoothie (which isn't green gross sludge like Ilya just loves to say).
As he's scooping the protein powder into the blender he hears Ilya say "I know the tradition of this franchise, and the , what do you say like the family history" shane absent mindly offers the word his boyfriend was probably blanking on as he usually does "did you mean lineage baby?" And Ilya says "Ah yes lineage thank you солнышко, I know the tradition of this franchise, and the lineage I'm a part of now.."
