Brings the Monster Out In You

Summary:

Bryan wasn’t a very angry person. He only really got confrontational when he was pushed to a limit like if someone was rude to Michelle or was intentionally frustrating him. At this moment, however, he couldn’t feel anything but hot seething rage. That and a tiny pinprick in his stomach.

or: Bryan seems to have difficulty being a person since his mutations, he may need some aid to remeber the sort of man he was.

Notes:

This movie has left me with so many brainworms I accidentally did this instead of two of my actual class assignments whoops. I have played Resident Evil but only biohazard and village so don't expect me to be super accurate to the games here.

Shout out to LesboRiptide and redactedrose, their fics "Honey, I'm Home" and "wait for me (i'm coming)" respectively are pulling me through a heatwave rn and have also been the main inspiriation for this.

There's a lot of ellipses and em-dashes but I DO NOT USE AI and also for good measure FUCK AI

Chapter Text

Bryan was having the worst day of his life.

He ran through the events of the night, what even the fuck was that shit about. What idiots released a crazy virus that made all those people into those…things! Rage filled his mind which was the only part of himself he felt at the moment.

He knew those idiots, met them. Met the one that dropped the sample, the one who told him to climb all those stairs, the ones who ignored him at his worst and threw beakers and screamed at him and wouldn’t administer the fucking cure-

His body shook with pure indignation. He had a body? He clenched a hand. It felt large and meaty, nothing like his own. What’s happening?

Oh right, the bite.

His vision was dizzying, complete sensory overload as he failed to focus on the black bite mark where long veins broke out from.

That girl, in the RV. She was so scared. She held his arms out, she wanted comfort, her mother bit her and she was so scared! The rage blossomed into heat in his middle, something was stoking the fire but it was hard to tell what exactly. If those fucking scientists weren’t so goddamned incompetent, she wouldn’t have been so frightened, she would have never bit him, that lady he hit with her car would be having a night in with her husband and dog, Maxine would still be here, his shoes wouldn’t have been vomited on, that..monster wouldn’t have chased him down like a wild beast.

A horrible sound echoed around him. It sounded like a roar. Where was that coming from? A natural fear instinct felt cold in his chest but was immediately snuffed out by the rising heat in his middle.

He was done being scared. No more screaming and running and calling for help. No he was sick of it! That horrible sound rang out again.

Tired of monsters and scientists and guns and hospitals and blood and fuckinn Raccoon City FUCK! He should just DEVOUR them! Those rotten idiotic little people! Who do they think THEY ARE! Ignoring his pleas? After everything he went through? After everything he did for THEM? And the rest of those fuckin zombie lookalike infected fuckers? He wanted to CRUSH their fragile little bodies! Rip them limb from limb and gorge on their innards like Halloween candy. It's their fault that the girl was infected and by extension him! And what about this…Umbrella Cooperation bullshit? What the hell were they even DOING?? What could POSSIBLY be the reason to engineer a fucking zombie virus! Better yet! Be so careless to release it! And to have the gall to call HIM to fix their stupid fucking mistake? Put him through hell and back for them? He’s a glorified Uber Eats driver! Every last one of them DESERVED to be eaten! Squeezed till their lousy bones pop! It's their FAULT! Fuck! FUCK!

Bryan’s body shook with wrath. That horrible sound blaring through his ears. He couldn’t focus on anything but that roar of something big and monstrous. Its probably that fucking thing from before, it never wanted to give him a break. Those limbs and tentacles that lashed out and reached for him as he dashed through a dim light alleyway. That felt like eons ago now. He clutched onto that green carrier bag like a lifeline, it kept him moving, it drove him up those stairs, through that elevator, across the maternity ward and eventually to the lab where…

The lab where those stupid fucking-

Bryan wasn’t a very angry person. He only really got confrontational when he was pushed to a limit like if someone was rude to Michelle or was intentionally frustrating him. At this moment, however, he couldn’t feel anything but hot seething rage. That and a tiny pinprick in his stomach.

The phrase “blinded by anger" didn’t describe how Bryan felt. It was more like he was drowning in it. Every time he ran the events of the night through his mind he couldn’t stop it from bubbling over and steering fire into his veins. It was almost enough to distract him from the gaping hunger he felt. The emptiness that snaked between moments where the rage quelled for an instant. The two feelings entwined leaving Bryan feeling…what did millennials call it? Hangry? That didn’t seem right. Furiously ravenous? That might be a better descriptor. Ugh. Something sharp was poking at his stomach.

He couldn’t see clearly, everything was blurry and disorienting. It was easier to keep his eyes closed, following a different sense. Something drew him through the ruins of the ground floor of the hospital, a leading trace of warmth? Glass crunched beneath his feet. Weren’t there like, a fuck ton of infected down here? He remembered them piled against the walls.

Those poor people, those fucking scientists, that little kid, that dog, that jackass in the car with Maxine, that monster that chased him up and down the city, that lady he hit with his car. Why couldn’t those scientists have just stuck him? Why did they ignore him? Throw beakers at him? All he wanted was the cure! He was doing the noble thing! The heroic thing! Something warm in his core soothed his sorrow just enough for him to remember to be angry again.

He protected that cure with his life and now he had neither that nor the cure. Thanks to a bunch of incompetent dicks whose flesh would have tasted better with a slice of pizza.

His mouth watered. Oh.

That's right. Everything towards the end was so fuzzy but it was clearing up now. He didn’t have to fantasize about gorging on their bodies, he already had. Their blood splattering along the pristine white tiles, bodies crumpling into something a little more digestible as tentacles greedily shoved them into that large mouth on his stomach. If he wasn’t so focused on the cure, he would have taken the time to enjoy it.

The cure.

What had happened to the cure? It was tossed around that lab for way too long, the pussies too scared to stick him. He remembered that last one- Dave. Fucking Courage the cowardly Dave. He had pocketed the serum and ran for the door. That little shit. If he hated any of those scientists, he absolutely loathed Dave. Scaredy-cat Dave who booked it with the only thing that could save Bryan. Poor frightened Dave who screamed bloody murder as they barreled out the window together. Deliciously appetizing Dave who whimpered and cried when Bryan finally got his mitts on him. That one he wished he could experience again.

Focus on the cure, what happened to the cure?

It was in his pocket right? It was hard to think straight with the anger blurring his thoughts and his hunger reminiscing on livelier meat. It must have fallen, Bryan thought sullenly, shattered on the ground floor, serum soaked into the concrete. His last hope, stripped away by…by those goddamn f-fucking…

Bryan felt that same roar vibrate through his being. He should move right? That monster was coming back for him. He may be infected- er mutated? Whatever he was, he wasn’t willing to stick around to deal with that thing again. Not to mention this twinging pain in his stomach. He tried to will himself to run but he couldn’t move very quickly, he felt too big in his body and sluggishly traipsed forward. Tendrils whipped in the corner of his eye, one especially long one was lined with hooked teeth. It was right behind him! It was right behind him and he wasn’t going to escape! He couldn’t run, something was wrong with his body as it bumbled awkwardly. He could hear the splatter of the tentacles as the flailing limbs entered spots of his vision that he didn’t know he had. This was it. All of that suffering through such bullshit and he was gonna get assimilated into a katamari ball of human limbs just like that. He could feel its insatiable hunger, its clawing need for something lively and full of meat. He tried to get away when an odd sight stopped him.

He could see it. It was right in front of him. It was splattered on the ground in chunks, surrounded by the blood soaked zombies from the maternity ward. Its tendril writhing as it tried to pull itself back together. It wasn’t giving chase, it actually seemed to attempt to slink away from him. But…what was making that sound then? What was behind him? What was he feeling?

Hungry. He felt hungry.

Limbs that didn’t belong to him stilled as his own tentacles reached for the thing that terrorized him all night. They latched onto its severed bodies and limbs, all twisted in awkward ways, wriggling in his grip.

Ah. He realized. Those tentacles were his, the limbs were attached to him, that gnawing hunger was his own. Those terrible monstrous roars that echoed through the walls came from none other than himself.

A morbid sort of glee tweaked the corner of his face, his mouth was too wide and drool was leaking out the side of his face. Not so tough now, huh? He tightened his grip on the monster. The parts squirmed, kicking against the tentacles. It looked pitiful, nothing at all like how it appeared climbing up the side of the hospital.

Bryan suddenly felt a buzz rush over him. His skin tingled as his mouth stretched into a sadistic grin. Well well well, look who’s the bigger fish now? He watched hungrily as the desperate squirms ramped up as he brought the severed parts of the monster closer to his stomach maw. An intense feeling of retribution came with the crunching sound of its mangled body reduced to meat by the jaws on his midsection. He felt his mind slip dangerously far away as he relished the metallic taste of the thing that tried to kill him mere hours ago. The sadism came easy as he felt its struggling cease and his hunger sated.

He was done being scared. No, he was what they should fear. Everything in this godforsaken city was going to fear him. It was the least they could do. For what they did to him. For what they- ouch! God what is that stinging pain!

His stomach lurched as it expelled the foreign object. Finally, that was over with. Bryan didn’t look down on it as he trudged onwards towards the city streets where dull sounds of helicopters and large vehicles echoed. A small glint reflected the shattered hospital lights and flickering street lamps.

A syringe, empty with the plunger all the way down.
