Work Text:

Dream choked, the sliver burning into his throat as his Sire pulled him by his hair.

"You shouldn't have disobeyed me," his Sire hissed, throwing him to the floor. He clawed on the silver collar, burning his claws as he desperately tried to free himself.

If he was his younger self, he might have pleaded to his Sire, appealed to the fact supposedly Sire's weak links were their fledglings. Unfortunately, he was no longer that foolish vampire.

He let himself get kicked into his cage, curling up into a ball. He focused on keeping his cries at bay, the silver digging into him. He faintly heard his Sire sigh in annoyance, and felt the collar click off, relief rushing his senses, before dread surrounded him.

Once silver was gone, something worse had to come after all. It was a way to test his endurance they said, and he supposed he couldn't complain when he had basically asked for it. He shouldn't have fought back, he knew that. But everything had hurt and he hadn't fed in so long and-

"Look at me," his Sire hissed, grabbing his face. Dream suppressed a flinch, reminding him that this was just a punishment. His Sire wouldn't have to do this if Dream had just obeyed.

Dream flicked his gaze to his Sire, wanting to crawl into a ball and shrink into the floor.

"Useless," he snarled. "Why can't you just listen and be helpful?" Dream didn't apologize, that would be tainting his Sire's ears with his pathetic pleads. Sire pulled out a syringe, filled with a new liquid. Dream flinched, the panic finally setting in. He scrambled away, whimpers and chirping filling the air as his instincts begged for his Sire to save him. But his Sire was right there, holding the thing that he was scared of.

His Sire bared his fangs, lunging forward and pinning him down. "How dare you attempt to manipulate me with instincts, you worm," he hissed, backhanding him before yanking his hair and holding his head in place.

He whimpered, weakly thrashing trying to stop the syringe before it landed on his veins. Dream cried out, the burning traveling through his body and making his body spasm. He desperately tried to call out for his Sire, before someone kicked him in the stomach. He whined, attempting to curl up. His limbs weren't working, and every second felt like torture as his limbs burned and twitched.

Why wasn't Sire here. He wanted Sire. Please? Sire? I'm sorry. Don't leave me. I'll be better, I swear!

Dream chirped weakly, his head feeling foggy as if needles were stabbed into his skin with every breath. He let himself fall into the dark abyss, his mind being enveloped in sweet nothingness.

Dream burst up, gasping for air, flicking his eyes around and surveying his surroundings. The first thing he noticed was that he was once again chained to the wall. He swallowed, recalling what had happened.

Gods, he was so pathetic. He had probably bothered his Sire with all of his pathetic nonsense and instincts. He winced, moving to kneel instead of just lying limp on the wall. If he was going to waste Quackity's- no, Sire's time, he might as try to be compliant.

The door opened, and Dream suppressed the urge to curl up into a ball, instead focusing on keep his gaze glued to the floor.

"At least you know how to be respectful," his Sire said, an bored tone attached to his words. Dream didn't respond, he shouldn't speak unless spoken to. He felt a hand grab his hair, and prepared for his Sire to yank his head up, or expose his neck, but instead, his Sire grabbed his wrist instead.

Dream winced, the grip was surely going to give him another bruise later. All he could was pray that it was another needle that made him feel foggy, and not in pain. His arm was yanked upwards, and he bit back a yelp feeling his arm sockets nearly dislocate with the roughness.

"Hold still," his Sire commanded, pulling out what Dream knew was a syringe. Dream closed his eyes, trying not to whimper as the tip of the syringe pricked his skin. He hoped it wouldn't be like yesterdays injection. In all honesty, he couldn't really remember what it did, all Dream could remember was the burning pain that came with it.

The first thing Dream felt was numbness. It was the hollow kind, the way Dream felt often when he was left alone for ages on end. Then, he could feel the pain in his stomach multiply, the bruises feeling like a sledgehammer was striking down on them.

Dream felt a choked cry leave his lips despite his best efforts, the pain spreading through his body too quickly for him to suppress a reaction. He crumpled to the ground, barely hearing his Sire's disappointed sigh.

"Too weak to even handle that? And here I was hoping you might be at least a bit useful today," he said, scoffing as he walked to the metal door. "I expect you to at least manage your foolish instincts this time."

Dream feebly nodded, the sound of the door clanging reverberating through his ears. He swallowed, trying to keep the pain down as he crawled to a corner of the room. He shut his eyes, focusing on breathing and curling back up into a ball.

Its ok, he repeated like a mantra, hoping that if he thought it enough, it would come true. He wanted his Sire, but that wasn't a viable option. He had wasted enough of Sire's efforts, along with the coven's materials. The least he could do was attempt to power through this after what had happened yesterday.

He bit his lip, careful not to puncture skin. Sire didn't want him to drink blood, even if it was his own, as it would disturb the tests.

He could fell his consciousness fading, and desperately clung onto awareness, hoping to stay awake, fearing what would happen if he woke up later. Unfortunately, the universe had never particularly liked him, dragging him down into the dark clutches of unconsciousness.
