Work Text:
Daphne looked over at her friends, grinning from ear to ear.
“Daph, it’s really not our business.” Velma said.
“That’s what makes it fun!” She giggled, pulling out her phone. “Alright, where’s my gossipers chat…”
Intel
Daph: guys Mr Duck just said Mr Bunny could help with the tech on the show
Adrian: no fucking way
Daph: mystery gang will verify
Barry: omg omg omg
Jess: more dissent in the ranks damn
Barry: there’s still hope for corunner yet
Daphne smirked at her phone, knowing the news would have made it school wide before the end of the day.
“You’re crazy, Daph.” Shaggy laughed.
“And you love me for it.” She preened, flipping her hair.

Bugs looked around at all the kids gathered excitedly in the stands, putting a hand on his hip.
“Wow, they really are into this, huh?” He said.
“Oh yeah.” Lola grinned from where she was stretching next to him. “It’s a small town, Bugsie. Anything that’s outside the norm calls for excitement.”
He snorted and looked around the other teachers either warming up seriously, or keeping watch on the kids in the stands.
“I’m in way over my head, ain’t I, toots?”
“Yup.”
“Wonderful.”
Rhodes jogged out to the middle of the field and held up a megaphone.
“Good morning Holesworth High, and welcome to Teachers Day!” He called, the students giving a cheer. “We’re excited to get going, but before I lose my voice for the day I’m gonna remind you all of the ground rules. This is still a school day, and you need to remain on school grounds. If at any point we cannot find you, your parents and the police will be called for missing persons. We have a few senior student games scheduled, so if you signed up to play make sure you’re around. We’ll give you guys your normal two breaks to get up and walk around, and feel free to mingle together, but please remember to use your common sense and don’t walk onto the field in the middle of a game. Alright, that’s it from me. Remember to do your homework this weekend, and let the games begin!”
The first game was tag, with nearly all the teachers involved except the ones supervising. Bugs was running for his god-damned life. These fun but fairly responsible people he’d gotten to know over the last few weeks vanished, and in their place were feral Olympian Athletes. He kept getting tagged because these people were animals and wouldn’t let him rest for thirty seconds. The sweat was pouring into his eyes so that he could barely see and he smashed into someone.
Wiping his face revealed Wile, who didn’t seem phased at all, grin stretched so wide it was practically a snarl. He actually took a few steps back from the expression. Wile paid him no attention though, licking his lips and bolting. Bugs put his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath, panting as he watched his friend run.
Wile ignored almost every other player on the field, entirely focused on Rhodes with a manic energy he’d never seen from him. Rhodes for his part was just as delighted, whooping and chirping and laughing as he ran from Wile, weaving between the other players with ease. Bugs felt like the crash was in slow motion, Wile launching himself forward to tackle Rhodes, and Rhodes ducking behind Taz at the last second, Wile and Taz toppling to the ground instead.
When Wile looked up he had an expression like he wanted to rip out Rhodes’ throat, when Fulton blew the whistle to end the game. The noise made Wile shake his head and seemingly become aware of his surroundings. Rhodes trotted over to help him and Taz up, and seeing that they were all okay, Bugs let himself fall to the ground to just breathe.
His view got blocked by Daffy who was smirking down at him.
“Come on, old man. The day’s just started.” He snickered, making him groan.
“Just kill me.” He whined. Daffy laughed as he helped him up, and Bugs took a long drink from a bottle of water he was offered. He looked around at all the other teachers, some of whom were a bit puffed, but were all standing around and chatting before the next game.
He was going to die.

Bugs, Lola, and Rhodes were on one basketball team, with Daffy, Wile, and Sylvester making up the other. With less players on the field, this game was much more tolerable. Not less intense, but more tolerable. Rhodes danced around Wile and jumped up to make a basket, chirping gleefully as he landed. Wile once again looked ready to kill.
The kids were eating it up though, cheering for the teachers to one up each other, calling out encouragement for their favourites. It was kinda sweet that they all cared so much. Sylvester knocked him aside as he ran for the other end of the court, and Bugs held his hands up to protect his face from eating shit-
Someone yanked him back by his shirt, and he stumbled a bit in the other direction.
“Come on, Bunny. Getcha head in the game!” Daffy yelled before following Sylvester. Boo! Should’ve let him fall! someone yelled, and oh. That was it. Time to Lock The Fuck In. She bounced on the spot for a moment, channeling the energy she used when she was on a Pride float or when she was hosting a twelve hour charity live stream, and grinned. Time to have some fun.
Bugs sprinted down the court and blocked Sylvester’s shot, stealing the ball and making a run for it. Hell yeah! Go Mr Bunny! she heard, and she laughed as she made a shot from the three point line. The kids went wild cheering for her, and she turned to grin wildly at the other players now staring at her in shock.
“Is that the best ya got?” She asked, making Rhodes whoop and jump for her.
The game was quickly back on, Bugs now fully involved in the chaos. She had the most fun blocking or stealing from Daffy, seeing his enraged little face making her heart pound. He was just so hot when he was pissed off, and the way it made him chase her, UGH! What a man…
Lola, Rhodes, and Bugs won the match, high fiving each other. Rhodes even threw an arm around her shoulders with one of his chirps, which she took as a good sign as she laughed through the adrenaline. She glanced over to see Daffy seething with rage, and she just happened to poke her tongue out at the same time as Rhodes, who was doing it to Wile.
Okay, yeah, this was kinda fun. Maybe those two were just weird like everyone said.

The soccer teams were Rhodes, Bugs, Lola, Tweety, and Ralph, versus Wile, Daffy, Taz, Sylvester, and Pascal. It was the last full game for them, the seniors having a few games after this, and then the last event of the day being a race. Bugs was riled up, jumping around like her namesake to keep the ball with her team.
She high fived Taz after they scored the first goal, giggling as she watched Daffy start focusing entirely on her. Playing with him was so much fun, and it was especially fun when he was doing well. It made the game challenging, kept her on her toes, and made it all the more satisfying when she still scored a goal on him.
“How do you keep doing that?!” He demanded, while she just laughed.
“You’re just gonna have to find out.” She quipped, resisting the urge to wink in front of the kids.
Their team won, and she couldn’t resist the wink then.
—
Bugs lined up with the other teachers as they waited for Marvin to blow the whistle to start. Daffy wasn’t doing the race, but she had said she’d race, so she was gonna. Even if it didn’t feel as fun…
Rhodes took off beside her before she processed the whistle, instantly falling behind everyone else in her shock. She managed to catch up to some of them, but Rhodes and Wile were so far ahead of the main pack. Rhodes, a few feet ahead of Wile, turned around and stuck his tongue out at Wile, who gained another burst of speed to chase after them. Rhodes chirped and somehow also got faster, laughing as he turned around to watch Wile.
Bugs stopped in her tracks, race forgotten.
Holy shit.
They were flirting.
