Work Text:
Weeks have passed; Miyuki acted the same as always, although in the inside, he feels like his heart is being squeezed every time he sees Sawamura and Mei together.
“You’re such an idiot. The both of you, actually.” Kuramochi said that night he came back to their dorm room from spying on Sawamura’s date. He didn’t say anything then, he didn’t have anything to say ‘cause it’s true. He’s an idiot for not realizing his feelings sooner and hurting Sawamura. He talked to Sawamura the next day, at least, he tried to. Sawamura just ran away from him the moment he stepped in his field of vision, so he started chasing him.
“Sawamura, c’mon, just hear me out, please.” He said as he continued to chase him.
“Go away! Stop following me!” Sawamura shouted, quickly walking away from Miyuki. He went straight to their dorm room where he immediately closed the door on Miyuki’s face.
Miyuki leaned his forehead on the door and started to speak, knowing that Sawamura would still listen to him on the other side. “Sawamura, I just want to say I’m sorry. For everything. For hurting you. For rejecting you so harshly that night… I hope you’re happy with Mei now…” Miyuki took a deep breath, he waited for Sawamura to respond in any way but he didn’t, so he just turned around and left.
Now, Miyuki is trying to slowly gain back Sawamura’s trust, but the guy is continuing to avoid him. It hurts, but what can he do?
“So, do you want to go somewhere?” Mei asked while the two are walking on the open field in their campus. Sawamura just shook his head and smiled. Mei noticed Sawamura’s expression so he stopped walking and faced him. He touched Sawamura’s cheek, caressing it with his thumb. “Is everything okay?” he asked.
“Yeah, everything’s fine.” Sawamura answered.
“Are you sure? You don’t seem fine. Does this have anything to do with Kazuya?” Sawamura flinched at the mention of Miyuki’s name, he looked up at him, confused. “You know him?” Sawamura asked.
“Oh yeah, I guess I never mentioned huh. Yeah, we’re pretty close friends. So, what about him?” he asked.
“No. Nothing.” Sawamura answered.
“Eijun… can I ask you something?”
“What is it?”
“Do I have a chance with you?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well… I know you’ve been in love with Kazuya for a long time now. And I know you haven’t moved on from him yet. That date we had last time, you looked like you really enjoyed it so I thought I might have a chance with you, but now, I’m not so sure anymore.”
Sawamura looked into Mei’s eyes, and he felt guilty. It’s true that he enjoyed their date, but there’s just something that doesn’t seem right. Whenever he’s with Mei, he feels comfortable, but he can’t help but feel like there’s something lacking. At first, he tried to push away those thoughts, and he really tried to fall in love with him, but in the end… he just can’t. His eyes is starting to cloud with tears so he blinked and let it fall down his face. When Mei noticed this, he immediately cupped Sawamura’s face and wiped away his tears. “Hey, hey, It’s okay. Don’t cry.” He said, comfortingly.
“NO! IT’S NOT OKAY!” Sawamura shouted. “I’m so sorry… I just… I still love him. We can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep giving you false hopes. I tried… I tried really hard to fall in love with you but I just… I can’t. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Sawamura continued on sobbing and crying as he was wrapped in Mei’s arms. “It’s okay. Don’t worry…” Mei said, tearing up. “I don’t want to hurt you.” Sawamura said in between sobs. “You won’t. Thank you for being honest with me.”
