Chapter Text
Itachi takes a deep breath and opens the door to Iruka-sensei's classroom.
He knows from his surveillance - Kakashi-senpai calls it stalking but he has no room to talk - that Iruka-sensei always stays late after classes are over. Perhaps it's a habit from years of supervising students or a time to do some marking in peace and quiet. Itachi doesn't know, and he felt that it would be a breach of Iruka-sensei's privacy to find out.
So, when he sees Iruka-sensei jerk upright from a light doze, he hordes the knowledge.
The object of his affections likes to nap in the afternoon.
He doesn't see how he can apply the information right now, but all knowledge is useful when attempting to seduce a target.
Itachi bows. "Iruka-sensei. You didn't come."
Iruka-sensei's eyebrows fly up. "To where?"
Ah. Itachi suspected, but having it confirmed is still disappointing. He presses forward anyway. "To my house. My mother was expecting you."
"Ah." Iruka-sensei flushes, and it's very becoming on him. "You were serious? It wasn't a prank?"
Itachi shakes his head. He wants there to be no confusion about this. "No. I was very serious. If you were not, I would welcome the opportunity to woo you, Iruka-sensei."
"Itachi-san," Iruka-sensei's voice is gentle. "You're young, you don't know me. As you get older, you'll find someone else, someone your own age..."
Itachi grabs his hand, stilling his words. "No. I'm old enough to kill for my village, and I know my own mind. I make my own decisions. By any standard, I am an adult of my clan and this world treats me as such. I'm younger than you, true, but that does not dissuade me." He can see that Iruka-sensei does not believe him. "I shall prove it to you. My heart is fixed, but it is up to you to accept or refuse it. I will await your decision."
Itachi spins on his heel and leaves.
He has much planning to do if he is going to court Iruka-sensei in earnest.
