Chapter Text
The night finally arrived and Catra was feeling more anxious than ever before. They’ve been together for 2 years now. And those past two years of her life were amazing. They were filled with laughter, sarcasm, love, traveling and so much more.
She had thought about this moment for so long and she wanted it to be perfect. She was determined to show Adora how much she was loved and all the ways their lives together had been perfect, even in the toughest times.
Catra had chosen a park by the lakeside near their new apartment they got together for their first year anniversary of being together. She waited in anticipation for Adora to arrive. Catra was a bundle of nerves. She wanted this moment to be just right and she couldn't help but think about all the beautiful moments they had. Angella helped Catra plan this moment because she knew she couldn’t do it alone and Angella knows Adora loved being in nature. Catra was happy to know that this was exactly what Adora would love.
She waited feeling scared and excited all at once. Then from the other side of the lake she spotted Adora gracefully walking over to her.
When Adora walked over over the small bridge on the lake, her face lit up the night. She had on a baby blue skirt with a white button down blouse . Her blonde hair was surprisingly down instead of in her regular ponytail poof. She was glowing like always and Catra felt her nerves getting the best of her at first. Adora just seemed to glow brighter than any star in the sky as she walked closer.
Adora was walking out a normal speed but Catra’s brain felt like it was slower due to her nerves.
As she walked slowly towards Catra, their eyes locked in a gaze.
The setting sun cast an orange and pink hue on the horizon and Catra felt as if the stars were aligning for this magical moment. They quickly kissed and hugged each other.
“Hey Adora” Catra said with her voice shaking.
“Hey Catra! Angella told me you wanted to meet me here is everything okay? You look absolutely terrified.”
Adora had no idea how right she was. Catra was so nervous and scared and it showed on her face and said .
“ Everything is fine I promise. I just needed to talk to you about something important.”
Adora looked confused and asked
“Umm don’t you know we live together now we could’ve just talked at home. We live right around the corner now.“
Adora giggled.
Catra laughed a little and explained herself.
“I know. However I just needed to do this somewhere that’s as beautiful as you are however, that place doesn’t exist, so this is the closest thing I could think of .“
Adora‘s face turned red and she looked down at her feet and looks back up right into Catra’s colorful eyes and smiled.
Catra took a deep breath to steady her nerves and calmly spoke.
“Adora, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the amazing things you bring to my life. We have been together for 2 years now, and I can't imagine life without you. I wanted to tell you how much I love you and how you make me feel like a better version of myself every day. The day I met you in the yoga studio was the day you opened my eyes to so many things. Not just vegan pizza and Frozen yogurt. But to life..a life that I never thought I would have. And I want to continue opening my eyes every day with you. I want to open my eyes in the morning and see you every day, for the rest of my life”
Adora laughed and said
“Well we do sleep in the same bed now so you do get to do that already.”
Catra just smiled at Adora being so oblivious. But this was a good thing.
Adora seemed as if she had no idea what was about to happen and that’s exactly what Catra wanted.
Catra already could feel herself choking on her words.. but she knew that she had to continue it was now or never. So she took a big breath and said,
“Adora I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Not just this. Not just waking up to you. I want to learn with you, dance with you, have a family with you. I want you. All of you and I will do whatever it takes to make us happy.”
'
Adora was speechless, She seemed to really love everything Catra was saying.
Her blue eyes filled with tears from all the amazing things Catra was saying to her.
Catra reached into her pocket and got down on one knee, and pulled out a tiny gold box. She opened the box to reveal a beautiful Garnet stone ring.
“Adora, will you marry me?' “
Adora stood there looking absolutely shocked just staring at the ring almost distracted from the question.
“ Oh wow is that my birthstone? So pretty! Wait …wait did you just say…whoa you just asked….
Omg you want to marry me? Really.” Adora started crying more happy tears.
Catra laughed and said “Adora you’re such an idiot what do you think I’m doing right now down here with this ring, and yes it’s your birthstone”
They both smiled at the same time and Adora finally answered
“YES CATRA YES of course I’ll marry you. Oh my God Yes Catra yes yes yes”
Suddenly it started to rain.
The two embraced, Adora looked at Catra with those beautiful blue eyes that Catra wanted to see forever , and shared a beautiful kiss that reminded Catra of the time she kissed her in the rain. Only this was more meaningful because Catra was more in love than ever before as they stood there in a beautiful park, surrounded by nature and the city lights.
Fast forward 3 years later and Catra and Adora had built a happy life together. Catra was helping her best friend Perfuma run the yoga studio in town and Adora had just started up her own personal training business that was quickly becoming a top choice for local clients.
They were always finding time to hang out with their friends Glimmer and Bow still who had their own little wedding to plan now. Whenever Glimmer and Bow asked Catra how she had proposed to Adora, she would always smile and glance lovingly at Adora as she recounted how she had set up the most romantic surprise ever for her.
Well Angella helped of course.
Catra and Adora were now living a life full of love, and they had never been happier. The only thing that brought them more joy was when they took little Fin home from the hospital 🥰. Catra never thought she would have such a wonderful family. If someone told her that this was going to be her future, she never would’ve believed it .
As they went on with their life. Catra kept her eyes, heart and mind open to how beautiful life can be with love being the strongest power in the world.
