Chapter Text
‘...did you hear?’ The co-workers were briskly walking away as soon as they realized their presence was known. The Acting Grand Sage was talking with someone unknown during his work hours, which was easily a rare sighting for average custodians like them. ‘I think so, that person with the Grand Sage was acting really friendly with him… isn’t that weird?’ ‘Yeah! He’s basically deemed the loner of the Akademiya, in what world would he have friends?’ ‘Well, I swear I’ve seen them before.’
The one who initiated conversation first deadpanned and looked at the other as if the world was ending. ‘What? When? Where, how-’ ‘Okay okay enough questions, but I swear on the Dendro Archons name. When I first started working here, graduation was just upon us. Everyone was really excited, super loud talk about the awards too. As you know, the Acting Grand Sage was appointed as Valedictorian. Though, I think there was talk considering someone else as another Valedictorian, but she refused.’ ‘WHAT?? Someone else as Valedictorian?? Impossible!’ The person who exclaimed received a smack in the head in response.
‘Quiet! Plus, not only are these rumours but you didn’t listen properly. I said that they were considering another Valedictorian, not just one.’ ‘Well then why did she reject? It’s literally any scholar's dream to be appointed as Valedictorian!’ ‘That I know, but she had her own reasons, allegedly. Plus, back then everyone fawned over Alhaitham. She probably didn’t want to get mixed in any unnecessary drama around his name.’ ‘Everyone still fawns over Alhaitham to this day anyway…’ ‘Eh, well, it might not even be true. Anyway, did you hear about that Amurta scholar that fostered a kid back to health after the incident with Azar?’ As quickly as the conversation surrounded yours and Alhaithams names, it died down just as quickly, leaving the speculation in the dust to settle. Though the thought was fleeting, it still was an important day for everyone in that year to reminisce on. But, what exactly happened?
