Chapter Text

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the tranquil gardens of your home in Neuva York. As you sat beneath the shade of a blossoming cherry tree, the soft murmur of Gabbie's laughter filled the air, accompanied by the joyful babble of her younger brother, nestled in her arms.

With a smile, you glanced down at the parchment in your hand, quill poised above the paper as you composed a response to Rafael, your dear friend and once fearsome dragon.

The journey to find Rafael had been arduous to say the least, taking you deep into the heart of the Corenthyian Mountains, where shadows clung to the jagged peaks like a cloak of darkness.

For weeks, you'd had scouts scour the treacherous terrain, following whispers and rumours that led you ever closer to your old friend's hidden sanctuary. The air grew heavy with the scent of smoke and sulfur, a telltale sign of Rafael's presence, as you ventured deeper into the mountain's labyrinthine passages.

At last, you found him, nestled within the depths of a forgotten cavern, his form twisted and distorted by the dark magic that had ensnared him. His eyes, once filled with warmth and kindness, had been clouded by shadows, his draconic form a grotesque parody of the handsome man he had once been.

But even in the depths of his despair, there was a glimmer of recognition in Rafael's eyes as he beheld you, heavily pregnant with your son, huffing from the exertion of hiking into the cave, the one who had come to rescue him from the darkness that threatened to consume him. With trembling hands, you'd reached out to him, your heart filled with determination and love as you vowed to bring him back from the brink.

It was then that you turned to the power of the Eclipsed Heart, a relic of ancient magic said to hold the key to unlocking the darkest recesses of the soul. With the help of mages from across the continent, you harnessed its power, channeling its energy into a beacon of light that pierced through the darkness surrounding Rafael.

And as the last vestiges of darkness were banished from his soul, Rafael stood before you once more, his eyes clear and bright, his spirit renewed by the power of love and friendship. With tears streaming down your faces, you embraced him, overcome with joy and relief at his miraculous return.

From that day forward, Rafael took on the mantle of Duke, overseeing the kingdom of Corenthya with wisdom and compassion, his once-fearsome form softened by the light of redemption. And as he stood beside you now, a symbol of hope and resilience, you knew that your journey was far from over.

As you finished your letter, detailing your plans for the upcoming festival in Neuva York, you couldn't help but marvel at the way your lives had changed over the years. Miguel and you had welcomed a son into your family, a beautiful blend of demon and vampire, with his father's dark curly hair and horns, and your own fangs. Gabbie, now a bright and spirited eight-year-old, danced around you, her laughter echoing through the air like music as Miguel chased her, her brother clapping with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes—just like his father.

And now, as you sat in the warmth of the afternoon sun, a new life blossomed within you, a testament to the love that Miguel and you shared. He hovered nearby, his gaze never straying far from you, his touch possessive and doting as he tended to your children with a tenderness that warmed your heart.

Together, you had faced countless challenges and overcome insurmountable odds, forging a bond that was unbreakable and enduring. And as the sun began to set on another day, you stood side by side with Miguel, your hands intertwined as you watched the colours of the sky melt into a canvas of fiery hues.

In that moment, you knew that your love story would be remembered for generations to come, a testament to the power of love and redemption in the face of darkness. And as the final rays of sunlight faded into the horizon, you whispered a silent prayer of gratitude, thankful for the journey that had brought you here—together, forever, and always.

As the final rays of sunlight disappeared beyond the horizon, you stood, holding your pregnant stomach as you turned to Miguel, a smile playing on your lips as you whispered those three words that had come to define your lives.

"I love you," you said, your voice filled with a depth of emotion that words alone could never express.

Miguel's eyes sparkled with love and devotion as he returned your gaze, his hand reaching out to caress your cheek. "And I love you, mi amor," he replied, his voice a gentle whisper in the gathering darkness.

Together, you stood side by side, your hands intertwined as you watched the sunset, the warm embrace of twilight enveloping you like a blanket of peace. And in that moment, as the world faded into darkness and the stars began to twinkle overhead, you knew that your love story would leave a lasting imprint on the tapestry of history, a beacon of hope and resilience for generations to come.

Notes:

AHHHHH a massive thank you to everyone that stuck around and waited as I sporadically updated this work - between finishing school and moving I can't believe it got finished. Your comments and support seriously got me back and writing more! Now I need to decide:
1. Do I re-write the first 5 chapters with my new editing software? I think a few of you noticed when the writing got significantly better lol
2. What do I write about next! I've got a drafted Princess x Knight, and a Gladiator x Ruler... but I'm open to suggestions! (Apparently I'm in a phase of writing people in positions of power).

But thank you all 1,000,000 times for everything!

Notes:

I cannot believe I made this public. I've never written anything before, but here I am.
