Watch Me Set Your World On Fire

Chapter 43: Shock Me Like An Electric Eel

Summary:

The one and only… “Electric Feel” by MGMT!!!!!

Chapter Text

A few days later, Romance was sitting in the living room, being decimated by Mystery at chess for about the thousandth time, and getting laughed at by Abby every time he made a bad move… which was most of the time. He was a good sport about it. Mostly.

“I’m done,” he groaned, throwing his hands up. “Go rain your mighty wrath on Abby instead.”

Mystery grinned at him. Romance threw an exasperated smile back and walked to his room.

On second thought…

“Hey,” Baby said quietly from behind him. “You wanna hear something cool?”

“Sure,” said Romance, turning slowly in the doorway and trying not to look like his heart was going the speed of light. He followed the maknae into his room and stood waiting patiently as Baby fiddled around with his phone. He jumped about a mile into the air as painfully loud, bass-heavy music began blasting them from every side.

“Oh shit shit shit. Sorry,” said Baby with a rueful grin. He dashed over to a pair of speakers concealed by a sheet of translucent plastic and turned the volume down to a more reasonable level.

“S’okay,” said Romance, grinning back at him, because what the fuck, what the absolute fuck.

They sat cross-legged on the floor next to each other, and Romance let himself relax into the music. He had never heard it before, but it was really good - fizzing with a strange kind of energy. Electrifying.

He tried hard not to smile - and then went ahead and smiled anyway - when Baby’s deep voice joined the vocals in the song.

I said ooh, girl

Shock me like an electric eel

Baby, girl

Turn me on with your electric feel…

“I’ve loved this song for like forever,” said Baby, “but I dunno why I never played it for any of you. I guess it just seemed too… I don’t know. I guess I just needed to find the right person to play it for.”

Romance looked at him. Baby was smiling, but he also looked slightly sad.

“Romance?”

“Yeah?”

“I love you.”

Romance’s eyes widened. His breath caught in his throat. “I - I love you, too.”

“I think I always have. From the first day we met.”

Baby reached over and held his face as he kissed him gently.

“You know,” Romance murmured, pulling away from him just enough to speak, “you’re the only person I’ve ever wanted to die for.”

The maknae smirked. “Well, technically you did die for me.”

“And then I rose heroically from the dead to be with you again.” He rolled his eyes at himself.

“I’m glad you did,” said Baby. Romance knew he meant it. And he was glad, too.

They were silent for a while after the song ended. The older Saja ran his fingers softly through Baby’s fluffy cyan hair, Baby leaning against him in contentment.

For the first time in his life, Romance knew complete and utter peace.

“You haven’t told anybody, have you?” Baby asked, breaking the long silence.

“No, I haven’t.” Romance considered. “Well, maybe - by accident - but not really -“

“What?!” Baby sat up in alarm. “What did you say?”

“Aaaargh…” Romance put his head in his hands. “After we kissed. I went out to the living room and Abby was there. He asked if I was on drugs, I guess I was a little weird, and I said… I said that you were my drug.”

What?!?” Baby didn’t know whether to laugh or yell at him.

“I’m sorry,” said Romance, looking up at him pleadingly. “He probably didn’t think anything of it…”

“Whatever,” said Baby.

“Are you worried about them knowing?”

“The rest of the Sajas? Not really.”

“You know Abby and Mystery would be fine with it,” Romance reasoned. “And Jinu… well, the only problem is that he’s so old, but he’s used to it now, I’m sure.”

“Yes.”

“Well, then… what’s the problem?”

Baby sighed. “Nothing really. I guess… just… people don’t look at us and think we’re together.”

“Oh, so we are together?”

He rolled his eyes and scowled. “Don’t push it.”

Romance just smiled happily to himself. After a minute he said, “Well, I guess that’s a good thing. I don’t want people to know, as much as possible anyway.”

“We’re going to have to tell Abby and Mystery. If they haven’t figured it out already. Which they probably have.”

“Sorry,” Romance muttered again. “But other than them, I think it’s best if no one knows. They don’t need to anyway. This just belongs to us.”

“That’s right,” said Baby. “You belong to me…”

“…and you to me.”

They looked at each other, demonic gold flashing in their eyes.

“We could be here all night,” Romance said suggestively. “What d’you think we should do?”

Baby smiled, showing his fangs. His patterns flared as he reverted to his true form. “I think I have an idea.”

“You’re so beautiful like this,” Romance whispered, almost afraid, but mostly starstruck by him.

The maknae trailed the edges of his claws ever so gently across Romance’s face, not hard enough to hurt him, but a reminder of how dangerous he was. Romance just grinned and reverted to his true form, his hair becoming more fiery red than pink, his patterns tracing themselves elegantly over his skin.

Baby seized him and pressed him against the wall with the weight of his body, looking deep into his eyes before kissing him, hard and desperate. This time it was different - Romance could feel the demonic power coursing through his veins, forcing him to almost hurt the other demon to show his unbounded love.

Romance’s eyes widened and a startled noise escaped his mouth as the maknae ground their hips together. Baby kissed his neck and leaned into him, sighing, his breath scorching Romance’s skin. Grinning as the other Saja begged desperately for his own destruction.

And like he had wanted to for so long, Baby delivered it.
