Chapter Text
The silence that fell over the two of them after Superfish spoke was a tense but knowing one.
“...you were awake?” DJ started, his voice unsteady and unsure. How could one go about this situation knowing that his love confession actually hadn’t gone unheard? DJ really wished that he had one of his friends from the club to tell him what to do now, maybe they’d do something more rational than any of the courses of action that his brain suggested.
“Did you mean it? I asked a question first.” Superfish interrupted DJ before he could ask another question. The latter swallowed and looked away, immediately pondering what his next move could be now, how he could dodge this question.
But how would he be able to dodge it? You can dodge questions like if you did your homework today, or if you ate today… but not if your entire love confession that you presumed went unheard actually held some truth to it. Not when you spilled your entire heart out and attempted to pour the remains back into a flimsy bottle, attempting to clean a mess that already stained the table from the start.
In conclusion, DJ had no out. And he’d have to man up and confront his own conflicting feelings and suck it up, whether they were reciprocal or not.
“DJ…. did. You. Mean. It.” The question didn’t even sound like one, it didn’t end in that curious edge with a head tilt to sound less intimidating. No, it ended as a statement with no way out and took on a more stern stance. Something DJ couldn’t just talk his way out of.
And lying seemed suffocating right now, words unwilling to come out of his mouth.
So, DJ had no other choice. He nodded stiffly, shuddering at how quickly Superfish’s expression changed. “I… I’m sorry.” DJ stammered, moving slightly away from the bed.
“No, don't say sorry…” Superfish immediately began, moving closer. “I feel the same.”
Four words, yet they held so much weight. Words that meant so much more than just words, something that awakened multiple thoughts and possibilities for the nearby future. Words that had more depth than just something people say.
“You do?” DJ mumbled quietly, voice weak as he slowly turned to look Superfish in the eye. “But I’m going to forget about all of this once we find all of the ingredients. Once you wipe my memory, I won’t ever remember you again…” The former human rambled, calm setting in once Superfish’s hands moved to hold his own gently.
“I don’t want you to forget any of this, I want—no I need—us to be forever partners. I want to be something more than best friends.” Superfish admitted, face flushing as he looked down at his hands, tightly gripping DJ’s. His vision blurry as globs of tears made their way onto DJ’s hands, the latter instantly went to wipe at his eyes. “Don’t cry, I’ve never seen you do that.” DJ said gently.
But this was all so new, how could either of them react? If not by doing things that felt foreign, like letting themselves cry for once.
After a small quiet while, DJ pulled away and looked at Superfish. “…what now?”
“What do you mean?” Superfish tilted his head, staring at DJ with those eyes akin to that of a puppy’s, the kind of look that made the former human’s heart melt. The kind of look that proved dangerous at times because of how convincing it was.
“What are we?” DJ rasped, fighting to let the words flow as smoothly as possible. Superfish looked away at the question, eyes slightly widening.
“We… Can we be something more than just friends? …partners?” Superfish asked, eyes expectant as he waited for a response.
But he never got that response.
He got something more than a response, something that words would never amount to.
A kiss.
A soft and gentle kiss, but an equally as desperate and loving one.
DJ adjusted himself as he shifted his body to be slightly on Superfish’s lap as he moved a hand right under the latter’s ear. In this new position he had more access and therefore nipped gently at the witch’s neck, the witch who could feel the former human smile against his skin as he nipped some more, only growing more motivated as Superfish let out more impossibly vulnerable noises.
The witch snaked a hand into DJ’s hair, holding him in position as he decided it was his turn to taste the boy’s love, not as softly leaving small marks on DJ’s neck. “I love you so much, I just want to mark you and show everyone how I belong to you, and how you belong to me.” DJ murmured roughly into Superfish’s ear, smirking as the witch visibly tensed, turning a more prominent shade of red as the boy’s voice danced like a flame next to his ear. His chest grew hot as he continued to whisper into Superfish’s ear.
“You’re my whole world, pretty boy.” DJ drawled, smiling innocently and meeting Superfish’s wide eyes as the witch practically keened into his ear. “Stop that!” Superfish cried out, looking away. “You don’t know what you’re doing to me, you really don’t.”
“Oh but I do…” DJ continued, before sinking his teeth into a specific spot on Superfish’s neck. A very specific spot that meant nothing to humans but forever to witches.
“Oh my days, oh my days.” Superfish hyperventilated. “You just marked me, I’m forever yours now.”
The urgency of his words made DJ slightly cower away, averting his gaze. “Did you… did you not want me to do that, I’m sorry. I should’ve asked, I’m really so—”
He was interrupted by a pair of teeth sinking into his neck too, DJ wailed as he tightened his grip on Superfish, trembling and panting. Everything happening felt almost unreal, as if this was also a sequence of events in a dream. But the pain mixing with pleasure and love only made everything more real. Overwhelmingly so.
It has been finalized, they were bonded. They were forever now.
“I love you so much.” DJ gasped out once the pain finally settled enough for his voice to come out slightly more steady and coherent.
“I love you too, Deej.” Superfish murmured, before licking the spot to soothe the pain a little more, he knew that DJ must be having it rough, considering the fact the boy’s body wasn’t even used to this entire onslaught of changes and biological processes. So Superfish tried his best to keep the boy as comfortable as possible.
It was a moment of love and desperation, but the relief that settled afterwards came nice and relaxing, as the two fell asleep in each other’s embrace. Whatever happened next could wait, for now it was just Superfish and DJ. And the physical manifestation of their love for each other, a bond that transcended universes and shined brighter than stars and galaxies.
