Chapter Text
Class’ POV
“We had checked everything we had on the drones that had attacked the building earlier...” Now they were all listening to Sue Storm. It felt more like a briefing but they were all fascinated by her the same way they were mesmerised by Reed Richard’s lecture. She definitely knew how to keep a crowd’s attention.
“…you are not in any immediate danger, and we are pretty positive there is no danger left at all. But just to be completely sure we need a few hours to run a couple more security protocols. After we confirm everything you will be able to safely go home.” — She explained. “In the meantime we have ordered some pizza for you — they are all different so you should be able to find something you like. And we have some other snacks and also sodas — Ben will take them out in a moment.”
They were having a very unhealthy dinner at the Baxter Building. Damn.
Harry looked around. It somehow looked domestic and cozy. Not their class, they looked very out of their place, but the Fantastic Four were acting like a regular -ish family that suddenly got unexpected guests in their house. They were all standing near cupboards, talking about something, eating pizza and laughing. All except Johnny Storm. It was a bit sad actually — Johnny was ‘the media face’ of the Fantastic Four. He rarely gave any speeches, probably leaving it to the adults, but he still was the most famous and beloved member of the team. Harry really wanted a chance to talk to him — maybe they would even be able to relate to some aspects of each other lives. He was nowhere close to Johnny Storm’s level of fame, but still knew how difficult it can be. He wondered if Johnny faced as much pressure from the rest of his team as he faced from his father. If maybe he felt lonely because of it?
Cindy always liked Sue Storm. She was a strong, powerful and elegant woman — exactly who Cindy wanted to be. Even now Sue Storm was the one to take most of the responsibility to keep everyone calm. Just as much Cindy was exited to meet Johnny Storm. She might have a little celebrity crush on the guy — but seriously, who doesn’t?
Flash was just looking around, taking in the surroundings and trying to remember this moment — pizza on the table, his classmates already eating, the Fantastic Four laughing over something, an opening balcony door, Johnny Storm and Parke-
“What the hell?”
Peter’s POV
Okay, it was scary. All the eyes, all of them were looking at him and Johnny. The room was now filled with chaotic whispers. It’s okay, he is here with his amazing boyfriend who will not let anyone overwhelm him. It will be alright.
On the other side it felt amazing. Finally he was able to just stand next to Johnny, holding his hand. No hiding, no mind games, no lies. But he still leaned slightly more into his boyfriend and tightened the grip on his hand. Johnny rubbed Peter’s hand with his thumb. It was enough for Peter to relax.
“Oh no, we almost missed pizza!” Peter subconsciously wanted to get the attention away from them, do something — just to avoid staring back at his classmates. So he went to the table, dragging Johnny with him.
“Um… Parker?” It was Mr. Harrington. “Where have you been?” The questing didn’t really address any of the actual questions the people in the room had, but his teacher clearly didn’t know exactly what to ask.
Peter took a deep breath, he needed to look confident while saying it. He wanted them all to know this is not a joke nor a misunderstanding. He is done hiding. He put on his best version of the ‘public face’, trying to mimic Tony.
“Sorry Mr. Harrington” — he said. “I just needed a moment to talk to my boyfriend.”
Class’ POV
Johnny Storm walked into the room. With Peter Parker right next to him. And they were holding hands.
“What the hell?” — they heard Flash saying.
It was like he spoke for them all.
“I knew Johnny Storm is gay!” — Gwen whispered excitedly.
“How come he is gay for Parker though?” — MJ added. “How can they even know each other?”
“He is not, girls, are you crazy? They are just holding hands, that doesn’t mean anything!”
“He just went somewhere we shouldn’t be and Johnny Storm brought him back, that’s all!”
“Or even if, you know how Johnny Storm is, just flirted a bit and Parker fell for it. There is nothing behind stuff like that.”
“Parker’s wearing his hoodie though…”
“Or Johnny Storm was wearing Parker’s...”
“No way.”
They were not sure if the Fantastic Four have heard their quiet conversation, even if they did — they did not react. Instead they were smiling proudly at the boys. Like as all of this was normal.
Then Mr. Harrington decided he had to be the one to actually question what was going on. They all shut up to listen what Parker had to say. They still mostly expected Parker to tell them how he wandered off and Johnny Storm caught him somewhere he shouldn’t be.
“Sorry Mr. Harrington, I just needed a moment to talk to my boyfriend.” — Parker said casually. “And to steal my hoodie back.” — He added and mischievously smiled at Johnny Fucking Storm. And Johnny Fucking Storm laughed and wrapped his arms around Parker’s shoulders from behind, pulling him into a hug. A few sparks appeared in his hair.
“But!” — Johnny Storm said loudly, like he had a very important announcement. “I did not lie about being an Academic Decathlon fan. I am just a fan of one very particular player.” He put a very strong accent on the last words. Parker slowly turned his head to look at the superhero with what probably was supposed to be either a judgemental or an intimidating expression. While Johnny Storm was grinning widely, very happy with himself.
None of this made any sense. How could they even know each other?
Harry was absolutely lost. He knew how the world of famous people worked. Not like this. Parker couldn’t have known the Fantastic Four — he has no connections, no fame, no money. Yet he was there, hugged by Johnny Storm, looking the happiest Harry has ever seen him. How could Parker know people that even Harry’s connections couldn’t reach?
After hearing the boys talk to each other it became very clear that they were really close. Johnny Storm was famous for being flirty with everything he saw — but this looked so different from the paparazzi shots Gwen had seen online. It was in his eyes — he looked at Parker like he saw the stars. And Johnny Storm, an astronaut, had seen the stars.
Parker was a loser, an outsider. He was always quiet and rarely started any conversations in the classroom. He could not be dating the Human Torch — Flash was sure about it. It was imposible. A loser and a famous superhero? Nope. No way. Parker couldn’t know the Fantastic Four. Couldn’t request a tour for their class. Couldn’t casually talk to the Invisible Woman. It simply couldn’t be true. Flash knew it, because he knew Parker. He did, right?
It looked like they were all questioning if they had ever actually knew Peter Parker.
Johnny’s POV
Johnny couldn’t feel happier. He finally could just spend this evening with Pete without pretending. He was still a little concerned about Pete’s reaction to all this attention, but his boyfriend seemed happy too. Slightly nervous, but happy.
Watching the class’ reaction to the reveal was a special kind of enjoyment. He knew they sometimes gave Pete a hard time in school, so using his fame to make them all question the reality felt incredible.
“Petey” — he turned to his boyfriend. “Let’s ditch them, I didn’t drag the console and all those wires to the common room for nothing. Please.” — He almost sang.
“Yeah let’s go.” — Pete nodded happily. He visibly wanted to escape all those eyes.
“I can call May, I am sure she wouldn’t mind if you stayed here after school.” — Sue turned to them. ”Would it be okay?”— she asked the teacher. The teacher silently nodded. Apparently he was shocked too. Johnny was absolutely enjoying it.
He took Pete’s hand and ran to the common room. Pete, without stopping, shyly waved at his classmates. How is he so adorable?
Apparently, the game Johnny was playing earlier was still on. He threw one controller at Pete, who caught it with no effort. ‘Uh, Peter Tingle. I’ll catch you by surprise one day’ — Johnny thought. He threw some sweets at Pete and this time, somehow, did catch him by surprise — one of the candies hit his boyfriend’s shoulder. Pete then threw a slice of apple at him and laughed when it gently hit Johnny straight in the forehead. Rude.
He put the SadSvit record back right on time before the game started. The familiar notes now sounded completely different — more cozy than sad. They spent the whole evening like that — playing video games and humming to Johnny’s vinyl collection. Together.
