A fun little fact about (mainly minor) deities.
They can fade. Out of existence, Wemmbu means. If they’re forgotten then they start slowly, steadily losing power and status. And then eventually their divinity is gone, their divine abilities are gone, and shortly after they themselves are gone. Whether they just fully become a mortal, or just.. Poof, gone. As if they died, except there’s no message. Why would there be a message if no one knows who or what they are?
Another little fact, uhm. Wemmbu may or may not be a little scared of that happening. Sure, chaos is very lively on Unstable, and cycles are a constant, but.. Not many people actually remember him. As Orbitan or Xaos, he means.
Almost all of his temples are destroyed, abandoned, or just straight up missing. All of his devotees have died or gone into hiding. So if those main parts of being recognized are gone, then.. Does that mean he’s starting to be forgotten?
He isn’t even entirely sure what would happen if he was completely forgotten. He could just practically die, he could be stuck in his mortal form, literally anything could happen. It’s not like he can exactly remember what happens to forgotten gods- he’s forgotten them too. There’s not much he can do about that.
Final little fun fact for the day!
You know how Egg is Wemmbu’s closest friend? How Jaden is a good friend? Minute, yes he will admit it, is kind of like his father? Flame his rival, Parrot and Spoke and many other people he has connections to? Yeah, they may or may not be the main reason he’s still alive.
They know of and completely believe in Wemmbu’s existence. And technically he is still Wemmbu, it’s his chosen and (in a way) mortal name. And Egg knows of him being a god, so that also really helps. So really, all those people he knows are kind of keeping him existing.
Also, they’re the reason for why he can stay in his mortal form for so long. Most minor deities, and major ones actually, can only really stay mortal for a week straight before having to go back to their true form. Wemmbu can handle a whole month, and even then he just has to take a day or two of using his abilities to make sure he’s okay.
It’s actually a terrifying thought when you really think about it. Especially when Wemmbu thinks about it- it might be his only true fear. He’s not that scared of death, he’s immortal anyways.
He is pretty scared of Egg dying, but the seraphim can revive himself a total of six times, so it’s not the most worrying thing. (Except for the fact that Wemmbu would have to wait six years every time).
That’s part of why he’s so devoted to Eggchan. If Egg dies, then people have certain things they need to do to make sure the seraphim remembers them once he revives. Such as wearing things that represent Egg, or making him a small shine- something to keep his memory alive. The more the better. Egg doesn’t even know that Wemmbu almost treats him like a god. (Wait no Egg does know now.. He just doesn’t know the why).
Anyways, uhm- enough about that.
There’s other things that Wemmbu should focus on right now.
