Chapter 4: Valentines Day Is A Fake Holiday

Summary:

Denki gets some advice from Momo and Shouto.

Also, back in highschool, Denki tries to ask a girl out on Valentines day.

Notes:

So hey, it's been a while.

Been busy at work.

Trying to sleep better.

And lost my internet connection for about a week.

Etc...

Here's a longish chapter to poorly make up for that.

Oh and an OC, but don't worry, OCs don't last long here, for the most part.

Enjoy.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Denki stands in front of his room, digging through his pockets for the key while whistling to the tune of Jethro Tull's – Locomotive Breath. It takes him a few moments to find it, but when he does, he lets out a sigh of relief, and reaches out to the unlock it.

“Hey!” Mina shouts from behind.

Denki jumps, banging his head against the door. “Ah, fuck!” He grabs his face, and turns around to see her, Momo, and Shouto standing in front of him. “Oh, hey.” He briefly waves at the couple, then looks at Mina. “Would you stop, doing that!”

Mina grins. “Only when you stop reacting that way, pussy.”

He grumbles to himself, rubbing his forehead.

“So hey!” She points at him with both hands. “We hear you're planning something special for Kyouka. Is that true?”

“What?” He's taken aback, and avoids her gaze. “Maybe.” He glances back at her. “Who..?”

“Eijirou.” She cuts him off.

“God, damn him.” Denki sighs. “Anyway, yeah. It's for our anniversary.”

“Aww. How sweet of you.” Momo smiles.

“Yeah you fucking stud.” Mina grins, poking him in the ribs.

“Stop it.” Denki swats her hands away.

“This is your first one together, right?” Shouto covers his mouth and yawns.

“Yeah, it is.”

“Do you need any suggestions, or advice?”

“Oh, yes!” Momo bounces. “If you need any ideas, we could help you come up with some.”

Denki blinks. “That's right, you guys would have experience with this, wouldn't you?” He mentally slaps himself for not coming to them first, then sighs. “Well, thanks for the offer, but I've already got a rough idea of what I'm gonna do now.” He scratches his head. “I've just got to write it down.” Then a thought occurs to him, and he places his hand down, looking at them. “Out of curiosity, how did your guys first one go?”

At the sound of that question, Shouto starts coughing into his fist, glancing at the floor.

Momo gasps. “Oh!” She claps her hands together and smiles. “It was lovely.”

“Yeah.” Shouto looks off to the side, muttering. “Lovely.”

She glances at him. “Come on. Focus on the positive.” She looks back at Denki and Mina. “Anyway, it started out simple enough. First he took me to this beautiful park by his childhood home.”

Shouto nods, remembering. “It was a place my mother would take me to pretty often, when I was a kid.”

“Oh, I gotcha.” Denki leans back on his door.

Mina does the same on the wall next to him.

“Yes.” Momo has one hand on her chin as she glances up. “If I can remember correctly, it had rained the night before, and the sky was still all murky and gray. So, other than the two of us, the park was completely empty. We had it all to ourselves.” She smiles, sliding closer to Shouto, and grabbing his hand.

He blushes, avoiding her gaze. “Right.”

She giggles, turning back to the other two, who were listening intently. “We spent the next few hours there just walking, and talking. It was nice.”

Denki nods. “Yeah. Sounds peaceful.”

“It really was.” Momo smiles. “And it was just the beginning too. After that, he took me out dancing at this club,.. uhh, oh what was the name of it?” She shakes Shouto's arm.

“Barbarella.” He mutters.

“Barbarella! That's right!” She exclaims. “Anyway, neither of us had ever been to a place like that before.”

“My sister recommended it to me.” He shrugs.

“I'm glad she did.” Momo glances at him. “It was a lot of fun.” She leans forward. “Shouto's a really great dancer.”

His face turns red as Denki and Mina focus their gaze.

“Yeah, you do look like you'd be good at that.” Mina stares.

“I do?” Shouto raises an eyebrow.

“Yeah.” Denki nods. “You have the figure, and the looks.” He gestures at his face, grinning.

Shouto chuckles softly. “I see.”

Momo giggles. “Anyway, we were there for a little over an hour, and then afterwards, he took me back to his home, where he uhh, tried, to cook for us.” She looks off to the side.

“Tried?” Denki and Mina ask simultaneously.

“Jinx.” She mutters quickly.

“Jin,.. fuck you.” He grumbles, softly knocking on his door three times.

Shouto groans, putting his hand on his face.

“Oh, come on. It wasn't that bad.” Momo half-smiles.

“I almost burned down my sister's apartment.” He moans.

There's a moment of awkward silence as the information just given was slowly being processed. Suddenly, Denki starts coughing into his arm, and Mina covers her mouth with both hands as each of them try, poorly, to hold in their laughter.

Shouto glares at the both of them with cold eyes. “You can laugh if you want. I don't mind.” He exhales slowly.

They both feel their hearts jump, and quickly clear their throats, regaining their composure.

“Sorry.” Mina mutters, staring at the floor.

“Yeah, sorry.” Denki stares off to the side. “Uhh, continue?” His voice cracks as he glances at Momo.

She sighs. “Calm down Shouto.”

He glances at her, breathing quietly for a moment, before his expression relaxes. “Right, apologies.”

Denki and Mina slowly focus their eyes back on the couple.

“Anyway, he's exaggerating.” Momo sighs. “All he did was set off the smoke alarm.” She shrugs. “Sure the fire department was called, and we had to spend some time waiting outside until they gave us the all clear, but once they were gone, it was all fine. I mean,.. Shouto's sister did yell at him over the phone for a bit, but that was the worst of it. He didn't cause any major damage, well, except for a burnt steak.” She chuckles.

“It was a nice steak.” Shouto grumbles. “Good brand.”

“Oh hush.” She taps his shoulder., then looks back at Denki. “In the end, we decided to order some Chinese food, and spent the rest of our night on the couch, watching True Blood.”

“True Blood?” Denki raises an eyebrow.

“She was into it at the time.” Shouto shrugs.

“Oh yeah.” Denki looks at her. “Did you watch the finale?”

“Yes.” Momo mutters. “I didn't much care for it.”

“Right?” He nods.

Mina looks at Denki, taken aback. “Why the hell were you watching True Blood?”

He crosses his arms, shrugging. “My mom watched it. I had nothing better to do at the time, so sometimes I'd watch it with her. She had a crush on the guy who played Eric.”

“Alexander Skarsgard?” Shouto glances at him.

“Yeah, that's the one.” Denki snaps his finger.

Shouto nods, pointing at Momo. “She has a thing for him too.”

“Shouto.” Momo blushes, looking at the floor.

“What? Nothing to be ashamed of.”

“Funny.” Denki chuckles. “You know personally, I always thought that the werewolf guy was waay more attractive.”

“Yes,” Shouto nods again. “Joe Manganiello.”

“Yeah.” Denki whistles. “Holy shit dude. Did you see him in Magic Mike?”

“Yup.” Shouto nods once again, his eyes wide.

He notices, Momo staring at him in awe.

“What?” He's taken aback. “He's an attractive man.”

Mina starts laughing. “You guys watched Magic Mike?”

“Hell yeah.” Denki looks at her. “It's a fuckin, Steven Soderbergh movie.”

“He directed Ocean's Eleven, Haywire, Side Effects.” Shouto taps his fingers as he lists them off.

“A bunch of other good shit.” Denki shakes his head, then looks back up at Shouto. “But yeah, that man. He's definitely one of my three.”

Shouto pauses. “Three what?”

Denki grins. “Guys I'd fuck.”

Mina starts choking on laughter, Momo tries covering the smile on her face with her hand, and Shouto just shakes his head slightly.

“I don't think I'd go that far.” He mutters.

Denki looks around confused. “What?”

“Nothin.” Mina giggles.

“Hey.” Denki chuckles, putting both hands on his chest. “I'm secure enough in my sexuality to admit that.”

“Okay dude.” She shakes her head, still smiling.

Momo pulls her hand away from her face “Umm, who are your other two?”.

Shouto raises an eyebrow, gives her a look.

“I'm just curious.” She mumbles.

Denki holds up two fingers. “Easy. Dan Stevens, Ryan Gosling.” He touches each finger as he says their names.

The three listening take a moment to process that, before all nodding in agreement.

“Can't argue with that.” Mina shrugs.

“They're both very attractive men.” Shouto crosses his arms.

“Yes they are.” Momo nods.

The four of them stand in silence for a moment.

Denki's head pops up. “What were we talking about again?” He looks at all of them.

Shouto strokes his chin. “Our anniversary?” He mutters.

“Oh, that's right!” Denki smacks his hand with his fist. “Sorry about that. Kinda went on a bit of a tangent there didn't I?” He scratches his head.

“Yeah.” Mina chuckles. “A dude-fucking tangent.”

“Ah, shut it.” Denki grumbles.

“Oh, don't worry about it.” Momo closes her eyes, smiling. “We all participated a little.” She glances at Shouto, grabbing his arm. “Anyway, in the end, our first anniversary was pretty simple overall, and even though things got a bit messy towards the end, I still remember that day very fondly. Do you know why that is?”

Denki looks up at Shouto. “Well, he clearly put a lot of heart into it.”

He nods with a little smirk.

“Exactly!” Momo beams. “So in the end, whatever you decide to do for Kyouka, whether it be big or small, as long as you put your heart into it, you'll both have a wonderful time, I guarantee it. Even if things do end up getting a bit messy.” She puts one hand on the back of her head, and chuckles.

Denki smiles. “I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.”

“Of course.”

Mina grins. “I don't think anyone's worried about him not putting any heart into this.”

“I know.” Momo giggles, then looks back at Denki. “Make sure you tell us what you have planned once you're finished writing it down.”

“We'll be happy to help.” Shouto smirks.

“Yeah.” Mina punches Denki's arm.

“Ah, okay, I will.” He steps away from her, rubbing the spot she punched.

Her and Momo giggle at his reaction, and after a moment, he sighs with a smile.

“Well, I guess I better get started then.” Denki waves his key in front of him.

“Yes, you do that.” Shouto nods.

“We have somewhere we need to be soon anyway.” Momo tugs at his arm. “We'll talk to you later.”

“Yeah, see ya.” Denki waves.

They wave back, and walk away.

“I better get going too. See you around.” Mina gestures as if she's about to punch him again.

Denki quickly moves his hands into a defensive position.

She lowers her fist, and laughs. “Pussy.” She turns around, and walks away. “Later.” She waves.

Denki sighs, then chuckles. “Asshole.” He lowers his guard, and unlocks his door.

Once inside, he turns on the lights, and sets his phone down on the corner of his desk. He pulls back the chair, and swipes away some empty cans, clearing a small working space, before leaning in, looking up Boston's – Peace of Mind on his phone's YouTube app, setting the volume all the way up, and pressing play. He taps his finger on the surface of his desk to the strumming of the first guitar, and starts to bob his head as soon as the second one kicks in. He opens the first drawer, pulling out an old green notebook and a gray mechanical pencil, setting them down by his phone as he takes a seat. He flips to the first blank page located a little over halfway through, writing, “AWESOME FUCKING PLAN” on the top of it. Then after a moment of tapping his pencil to the rhythm of the music as he thinks, he writes in parenthesis above that, “potentially”.

…

HIGHSCHOOL

“Ah, I don't know.” Denki sighs, leaning back on the couch in Kyouka's room as he casually strums her guitar. “It doesn't feel like I'm getting any better.”

Kyouka glances up at him and scoffs. “Don't be stupid.” She sits on the rug with her legs crossed, strumming her bass along with the tune of Led Zeppelin's – Dazed And Confused, which echoes from her CD player. “You are. I can tell.”

“Oh yeah?” He cracks his neck. “And how's that exactly?”

“Well for starters, I no longer have the urge stick a screwdriver in my ear when you're playing.”She shrugs, not looking up from her instrument. “So that's something.”

“Oh, ha ha.” Denki frowns. “Hilarious.”

“Yeah.” Kyouka smirks, chuckling softly. “But in all seriousness, you have improved.” She tilts her head. “I mean, you've still got a long ways to go, but you're certainly no novice.”

Denki sighs. “Well, that's a relief.” He mutters. “I'm glad to hear I'm not wasting my time.” He plays a quick rendition of Happy Birthday, then taps his hand on the guitar a few times while whistling. “Hey Kyouka.”

“Hm?” She glances up at him. “What's up?”

He clears his throat, and looks off to the side. “So,.. tomorrow's Valentines Day, right?”

“God damn it.” She stops playing, putting a hand on her face with a sigh.

“What?” He quickly looks back at her. “You've heard this one before?”

“Who is she?” Kyouka mutters.

“Huh?”

“The girl, dumb dumb.” She looks up at him. “Who is she?”

“Ah,..” He shakes his head. “I don't think you'd know her.”

“Try me.” She rests her chin on her hand.

Denki leans back even further, folding his arms.“Her name's Miya. She's in my chemistry class.”

Kyouka thinks for a moment. “Long white hair?” She asks, running a hand through her own.

“Yeah. That's the one.” He nods.

“And you thought I wouldn't know her.” Kyouka scoffs, then after a moment, she frowns. “Doesn't she have a boyfriend?”

“Had.” He points, leaning in. “I overheard her talking a while back. Apparently they broke up sometime last summer.” He grins.

“What, and she's been single since?” Kyouka raises an eyebrow.

“Yeah.” Denki nods, leaning back. “Crazy, right?”

She sighs. “You're so naive.” Then starts playing her bass again.

“I prefer optimistic.” He smirks, strumming a few notes.

“Sure.” She chuckles, shaking her head. “Whatever you say, dude.” She plays a bit longer, then glances at him. “Why are you telling me this anyway? You looking for advice or something?”

“Not really.” He shakes his head. “What? Am I not allowed to confide in you?”

“No, you can.” She mutters. “I was just curious.”

The song ends, and Your Time Is Gonna Come starts playing shortly after.

“So, what's your plan?”

Denki exhales, looking at the ceiling. “I'm thinking of giving her a letter, and maybe some chocolate too, cause you know, fuckin Valentines day.” He shrugs, rotating his hand.

Kyouka shakes her head. “Stupid fucking holiday.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know.” He sighs. “But for some fuckin reason, I asked her out on Valentines day, sounds a lot better than, I asked her out on,.. I don't know,.. Tuesday?”

“Still..” Kyouka mutters. “You plan on writing something romantic?” She smirks, glancing at him.

“Oh, fuck no.” He shakes his head, chuckling awkwardly. “I'm not doing that shit again.”

She closes her eyes, still smirking. “I thought so.”

“Yeah no, I'm keeping this letter simple, and to the point.” He waves his hand to the side. “So, if shit does to go south, she wont have anything embarrassing to show all of her friends.”

“Yeah.” Kyouka chuckles.

He holds his hands out in front of him, as if gripping an invisible piece of paper. “Look at what this fucking loser wrote.” He says in a high-pitched voice. “God, what fuckin freak, loser,.. creepy,.. shithead,... fuck.” He groans, putting his hand on his face.

Kyouka blinks. “You okay?” She looks at him.

“Yeah.” He mumbles, nodding. “Just, happy memories, you know.” He gives a weak chuckle, then shakes his head. “Anyway, yeah. No fuckin romance,.. in fact.” He slides his hand down to his chin. “Should I even give her chocolate? Does that seem like too much?”

Kyouka shrugs. “Well, you said it. It's Valentines day. So, chocolate's kind of expected.”

“Right, right.” He taps his foot. “What's the least romantic, chocolate thing, you can think of?”

“Uhh,..” She leans back, looking up. “I don't know... A Crunch bar?”

Denki nods with a hand covering his mouth. “Crunch bar, Crunch bar...” He mutters to himself, before sitting up, snapping his finger. “That's fucking perfect!” He blurts out, then looks back down at Kyouka. “Thank you.”

She's taken aback by the sudden outburst. “No,.. problem.” She chuckles awkwardly.

Denki leans back with a big grin on his face. “A Crunch bar.” He shakes his head, chuckling. “Fucking genius.”

“So you did need my advice in the end.” Kyouka smirks. “When do you plan on giving this to her?”

“Oh I don't know.” Denki sighs. “During lunch probably.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah.” He nods. “Oh, right. If any of the others ask where I am, just say I'm using the bathroom.” He waves his hand. “I shouldn't be gone for too long.”

“Sure thing.” Kyouka nods, then looks back at her bass.

The song ends, and Black Mountain Side starts playing.

“When are you gonna get a boyfriend?” Denki shoots her a look.

She shakes her head, playing along to the song. “I told you already, I'm not interested in that sort of thing right now.”

“Bullshit.” Denki frowns. “You need to feel my pain.” He taps his chest.

“Eh.” She chuckles with a smirk. “Someday, maybe.”

…

“Hey. Where's Denki?” Eijirou sits down at the lunch table, between Mina and Katsuki.

“I don't know.” Mina shrugs, picking at her food with a plastic spoon.

Ochako takes a bite of chocolate, looking around the cafeteria. “He's usually the first one here, isn't he?” She turns to Izuku.

He chokes on the water he was drinking. “Yeah, he is.” Izuku gasps.

“Jesus, who gives a shit?” Katsuki mutters. “He's probably in the fucking bathroom.”

“Maybe.” Eijirou frowns. “Hey Kyouka.” He turns to her.

She sits in front of him with her headphones in, listening to the Dead Kennedys – Police Truck, at full volume as she stares off to the side, tapping her fingers on the table.

“Yo! Can you hear me?”

Mina leans over. “Hello!” She waves a hand in front of Kyouka's face. “Earth to Kyouka!”

She flinches, turning to them. “Sorry.” She takes off her headphones. “What's up?”

“Where's Denki?” Eijirou takes a bite of his apple.

“Uhh, oh that's right.” She shakes her head. “I think he's trying to ask out some girl right now, or something.” She waves her hand.

It gets quiet at the table.

“What, like, right now?” Eijirou places the fruit down.

Kyouka glances from side to side. “Yeah. I'm pretty sure.”

“On Valentines day too.” Mina grins. “That fuckin sap.”

“Do you know where he is?” Eijirou leans in.

“I don't know.” Kyouka shrugs. “Somewhere in the halls, maybe? Why?”

Eijirou nods his head, then slams his hands on the table, standing up. “We have to find him!”

All eyes are on him now.

“What the fuck are you on about?” Katsuki glares.

“Are you planning on spying on him?” Ochako takes a sip from her milk carton.

“What, no! I plan on supporting him.” He places a hand on his chest. “What kind of friend would I be if I wasn't there for him on such an important day!?”

“Important?” Mina scoffs. “Come on. This is Denki we're talking about, right?”

“Yeah Eijirou.” Izuku places his bottle down. “This isn't exactly unusual for him.”

“Are you sure about that?” Eijirou glances at him. “Why would he do this during lunch? That's never happened before.”

“Well,.. huh.” Izuku places his hand on his chin. “No it hasn't.” He mutters. “In fact, he usually waits until after school to do this sort of thing.”

“Yeah, that's right.” Mina nods.

“Huh.” Kyouka put a hand over her mouth as she thinks.

“Right.” Eijirou nods. “Think about it. The halls should be pretty empty around this time.”

“It'll just be the two of them.” Mina grins.

“That's right.” Izuku continues to mutter. “It's also worth noting that he waited until today, a holiday, to do this. He typically doesn't waste his time making a move. Is this someone he knows?” He turns to Kyouka.

She blinks. “He said, she was in his chemistry class.”

“She's in his class!” Eijirou is taken aback. “And he's waited this long to do something?! I knew something was off.” Eijirou holds his hand out, then looks at Kyouka. “Is he just asking her out, or is he doing something special?”

She breathes slowly. “He uhh, he wrote her a letter, and got her some chocolate. You know. Typical Valentines day shit.”

“I fucking knew it!” Eijirou smacks hand with his fist. “That's why he waited. So he'd have an excuse to do something cheesy like this.” He chuckles , putting a hand behind his head. “Still though, it's kinda funny. I thought he hated Valentines Day.”

“Why?!” Ochako gasps. “Valentines day is the best.”

Katsuki looks at her. “You only say that cause you get bombarded with fucking chocolate every year.”

“Whaaat?” She scratches her head, laughing nervously. “I don't know what you're talking about.” She carefully slides her grocery bag full of candy off the table.

Izuku catches a glimpse of that, and sighs, peering into his lunchbox at the little Hershey kiss taped to a letter sitting in the corner.

“What's wrong Deku?” Ochako turns to him.

“Nothing.” He jumps, closing it.

“It's not the first time Denki wrote a girl a letter.” Kyouka mutters.

“Oooh. When was the last time?” Ochako peers around Izuku.

Kyouka glances off to the side. “Middle school.”

“Ah, that doesn't count.” Mina waves her off. “Middle-schoolers are all stupid and cheesy like that.”

“Right.” Kyouka half-smiles.

“Look at all the effort he's put into this.” Eijirou looks around. “This girl's probably special, right? At least to him.”

“Right.” Kyouka mumbles, then her eyes go wide as she stands. “Let's go find him!”

“The fuck?” Katsuki glances up at her.

“Yeah, that's the spirit.” Eijirou clenches a fist out in front of him, grinning. “Who else want to come?”

Mina grins. “Well, how can I just sit here after hearing all that.” She stands. “I wanna see how this plays out.”

Ochako stands up as well, grabbing Izuku's arm. “Come on Deku. This could be fun.”

“Ha ha, sure thing.” He tries to hide his red face. “But are you guys sure that this is okay? I feel like we're intruding.”

“I mean, we kinda are.” Eijirou shrugs. “But that just shows that we give a shit about him, and in the end, isn't that more important?”

“I guess?” Izuku stands.

“What about you Katsuki.” Eijirou looks down at him. “Are you coming?”

He closes his eyes. “Sounds like a waste of my time.”

“You buzzkill.” Eijirou frowns. “Could you at least watch our stuff while we're gone then?”

He looks up at him, then sighs. “Fine.” He grumbles.

“Ok, cool. Let's go then.” Eijirou points at the cafeteria doors.

“Yeah.” Kyouka nods.

They all start to walk away.

Mina looks at Katsuki. “Have fun sitting alone, like a fucking loser.” She waves.

“Wha..?” He grits his teeth. “You fucking bitch.”

She stick her tongue out at him, then grins, turning away.

They exit the cafeteria.

Katsuki sits with both fists clenched at the table.

“God damn it!” He smacks the table and gets up and grabbing the first person who happened to walk by. “You.” He growls.

“Huh?” The kid gives him a confused look.

Katsuki points at his table. “Watch this shit while I'm gone. Okay?”

“Uhh...”

“If I notice anything out of place when I get back.” He pulls the stranger close to his face. “I will fucking kill you. Understand?” He glares at him with murderous intent.

“Umm,.. yeah,.. sure.” The kid nods repeatedly, horrified.

“Good.” He lets go of him.

The kid sits at the corner of the lunch table, nervously watching as Katsuki stomps out of the cafeteria.

…

“So, what's this all about?” Miya stares at Denki with tired blue eyes.

He unzips his backpack, and reaches in. “One sec.” He holds a finger up.

They stand in front of the entrance to the gym.

“I can't stay for too long.” She sighs, scratching her neck as she looks off to the side. “I have something I need to do in the library.”

“Oh, sorry.” Denki digs through his bag a little faster. “I'll be quick.”

“No, you're fine for now.” She glances at him. “I'm just letting you know.”

“Cool, cool. Where the fuck did I?.. Ah, found it!” He pulls out a Crunch bar with a piece of folded, red construction paper taped to it, and hands it to her. “Here you go.”

“Huh?” She takes it, and stares at it for a bit. “Right. Today's that day, isn't it?” She peels off the tape, and holds up the chocolate. “A Crunch bar.”

“Yeah.” Denki scratches the back of his head.

“Cool.” She opens the paper, and reads his note to herself.

Happy Valentines Day. Do you want to grab some coffee sometime? - Denki

Miya glances up at him for a moment, then back down at the paper. “Sure, why not?” She shrugs, closing it.

Denki blinks. “Huh?”

“Do you have a pen?”

“Uhh, yeah, right here.” He pulls one out of his pocket and hands it to her.

She pulls the cap off, and pushes it on the back of the pen. “Turn around.” She rotates her finger.

“Sure thing.” He does a quick 180, and waits.

She walks up to him, presses the folded sheet of paper on his back, and starts writing. “I'm free this Saturday. You can pick me up in the morning, preferably around 10:00. There's this nice place near the edge of town, mostly known for donuts, but they make really good coffee too. I'll show you where it is.” She turns him around, and hands him back his pen and paper with her phone number and address written on it.

“Okay.” He nods, then glances at her writing.

“Cool. I have to go now.” She unwraps the chocolate bar. “I'll see you later.”

“Yeah, see ya.”

She turns around, and starts to walk off.

“You're not going to the cafeteria?” Denki points behind him with his thumb.

“No.” She shakes her head. “I told you, I have that thing...”

“Right.” Denki smacks himself in the face. “The library, thing.”

“Yeah.” She nods.

“Well, in that case, uhh.” Denki scratches his head. “Good luck.”

“Alright.” She waves, then takes a bite of her chocolate as she walks away. “I love this shit.” She points at the bar, before disappearing around a corner.

Denki stands in silence for a moment. “Awesome.” Then he turns around and walks away.

It doesn't take him long to run into his friends.

“Denki!” Eijirou calls out.

“Hey!” Denki jumps. “What are you guys doing out here?”

Eijirou and Mina both rush up to him.

“What happened!?” He gets up in Denki's face.

“Did it go well!?” Mina pushes Eijirou aside.

“Did she say yes!?” Eijirou pushes her back.

Denki leans back. “Wha..? How did you..?” He shakes his head, and grins, holding up the folded paper.

The two of them take a moment to read it, then look at Denki, eyes wide.

“I did it.” He nods.

“You fucking did it.” Eijirou smiles.

“You stud.” Mina grins.

“Guys I fucking did it!” Denki holds his arms out.

The three of them hug and start cheering as tears of joy stream down from Denki's face. Izuku and Ochako stand close by, smiling and laughing along with them. Meanwhile, Kyouka and Katsuki observe the group from a distance.

“Jesus, that's an overreaction.” Katsuki grumbles.

“A little bit, yeah.” Kyouka mumbles, nodding slightly.

“What's wrong with you?” He glances at her. “You don't seem too happy about this.”

“What? No, no.” She shakes her head. “I'm, happy for him. I really am... Why wouldn't I be?”

“I don't know, that's why I fucking asked.” He raises an eyebrow, then sighs, closing his eyes. “Well don't worry too much. It's just a date. I doubt anything's going to come from this, especially with that fucking moron involved.” He gestures towards the blonde spaz, who's still cheering and crying with a big, stupid smile on his face.

“Yeah.” Kyouka nods, chuckling weakly. “Right.”
