Chapter Text
He woke up that morning earlier than usual. He went to the bathroom and found out that he looked particularly handsome that day in his green dinosaurs pajamas. Clearly it was thanks to the mud mask he had used on Friday at the school gardens with Jason.
He’d been prepping the whole week for the big day and finally the date had arrived. Richard had a giant bowl of cereal for breakfast, he had to serve himself because Alfred was finishing the details on the suit he would be wearing. He giggled when he remembered the face Alfie had made when Bruce asked him to walk him down the aisle. The poor man couldn’t help crying.
Alfred wasn’t the only one who cried, Barry also cried a lot. Dick didn’t understand why they cried if everyone was happy. The happiest one of all was his father; at least his dad didn’t cry.
As soon as he devoured his bowl of cereal, he jumped off the high chair he sat at. He seized the opportunity of walking to his father’s room to practice how he would walk down the aisle with the rings. Truthfully, he had been practicing the whole week and each time he was better at it, all he had to do was imagine he was a robot.
─ Dad?
The bed was empty, but it didn’t take him long to find his father in the penumbra of the room. Bruce was standing in front of a coat hanger, he looked as if he had spent hours contemplating the black three-piece suit. The sewing was all done by hand, dick had never seen such an elegant suit before, even if his father wore a lot of elegant suits.
Despite being called, the adult appeared not to be aware of his presence so Dick decided to get closer. ─ Daddy. ─ He called for him again as he reached his parent’s side and held his hand.
Finally, the touch of his hand appeared to pull Bruce out of his own thoughts.
─ Richard, is something the matter? Why are you barefoot?
─ You are also barefoot. ─ Dick put his little foot on top of his father’s for a moment, then he put it back on the floor and smiled. Abruptly, he stood in front of the adult and hugged him with all his might. He pressed his face against his father’s stomach and then looked up. ─ Dad, you are my most favorite person in the whole wide world.
