Chapter Text

“Sweetheart, why is there an abomination next to the milk?”

Marinette turned around and snorted at the sight of her husband looking like he’d just smelled old socks, pinching his nose and scrunching his whole face in disgust.

“It’s just cheese, honey.” She rolled her eyes fondly and continued to set the table. Their boys, currently placing the cutlery, giggled at their father’s expression of despair.

“But it’s Camembert. You know I can’t stand the stuff.” Adrien whined, causing more giggles around the table.

Marinette chuckled as well, before placing a hand on her hip and motioning to their sixteen year old daughter just coming downstairs.

“Well, you’re going to have to battle it out with Emma then. She’s been crazy for the stuff this past couple of weeks.”

“Crazy about what?” Emma questioned as she reached past her father to snatch a piece of the offending cheese before putting it in her small shoulder bag with some plastic wrap around it.

“You’re bringing that on your date?” Adrien asked, horrified.

“It’s good to have an emergency snack just in case.” Emma shrugged, and Adrien could swear he heard snickering from her bag. Which made no sense, so he must’ve imagined it.

“Fine, but can we please keep it in a lidded container so I don’t have to smell it?” Adrien sighed in defeat (knowing he could never deny his daughter anything) and closed the fridge door, only to quickly open it again and take out the forgotten milk.

Louis and Hugo were both still giggling as their father joined them at the table, Adrien sending them a mock glare before grinning himself.

Emma finished tying up her unruly blond hair into a french braid and pulled on her shoes.

“Sure you don’t want some dinner before you leave, sweety?” Marinette asked her as she placed the final dish on the table.

Emma sniffed the air.

“Oh I wish I could, maman. It smells heavenly! But Leo insisted we’d get something to eat before...” Their daughter shrugged and smiled apologetically.

Marinette grabbed a paper bag from the counter and went to hug her daughter.

“No worries, we’ll save you some.” She smiled.

Before these wolfs gobble everything up.” She added with a stern look at the pre-teen boys already heaping food onto their plates, both freezing with hands midair at their mother’s warning.

Adrien laughed at his boys’ sheepish expressions and helped himself to some salad.

“Don’t forget your greens, boys. I think you’ll really like the arOOOgula.” He winked at them.

Adrien grinned proudly as he was rewarded with four simultaneous groans and two eye rolls.

“Daaad!”

“Aaadrien!”

The man just winked again and continued placing salad on his plate.

Suddenly, a ping sounded from Emma’s smart watch and her eyes went wide.

“Oh shoot! I’m late! Seeyoulaterloveyoubye!” She waved at her family before running out the door.

“Wait!” Marinette called out, stopping her daughter right on the doorstep.

“Don’t forget these.” She placed a bag in her daughters waiting hands.

“It’s Leo’s favorite. Now go go go! Don’t leave that sweet boy waiting.” Marinette smiled and waved at Emma to move.

Emma grinned, it’s radiance matching her father’s, and took off down the street waving the bag.

“Thanks maman!”

Marinette giggled fondly, remembering several occasions she’d been running late too when dating a certain someone.

Then a pair of arms, belonging to that someone, wrapped around her from behind.

“She’s so much like you.” A warm voice chuckled in her ear.

Marinette smiled and leaned back into her husband’s embrace.

“She’s got a lot of you too, you know.”

“You mean the cheekiness?” He smirked.

Marinette giggled, turned around in Adrien’s arms and bopped him on the nose.

That I believe she inherited from both of us.”

Adrien smiled and pulled her closer.

“You’re beautiful, you know.”

Adrien still couldn’t believe how he’d managed to marry this wonderful woman. She always managed to take his breath away, ever since he first saw her so long ago. Even seventeen years and three kids later, she was still the most gorgeous being he’d ever met and he felt so grateful for having Marinette in his life.

Adrien leaned in to his waiting wife and kissed her sweetly.

When they finally sat down at the table, the boys were writhing in their seats, staring at the food with longing eyes and drooling mouths.

Both parents laughed at the sight and put their sons out of their misery by letting them tuck in.

A pleasant meal and much laughter later, Adrien placed the final dishes in the sink, before turning to his wife.

“Say... is there any of those chocolate chip cookies left?” His eyes glittering with hope.

Marinette laughed and pulled out a filled platter from the cupboard.

“You know I always made a double batch when making these. I thought you were bad, but lately Leo’s been like a black hole for cookies...”

Bonus scene:

“I still can’t believe Emma and Leo are dating...” Adrien commented later, as they were relaxing on the couch in front of the TV.

“You know Leopold is a sweetheart.” Marinette smiled up at him.

“He’s been taking such great care of Emma. Though I can’t believe how Chloe managed to produce such a kind boy when she is so... her.”

Adrien chuckled.

“You have to admit she’s been slowly improving.”

Marinette scrunched her nose.

“Slowly.” She conceded.

“Now let’s focus on the movie. It seemed fun judging by the trailer.” Adrien nodded to the screen.

“What was it called now again?” Marinette asked, turning her attention forward.

“Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.”

“Isn’t this supposed to be for kids?” Marinette snorted.

“Hush, sweetheart. It’s starting!”
