Chapter Text
It's official, Peter Parker hates his life. Like really, really hates the fact he exists. Oh to have a normal life- then again has life ever been normal for Peter? About fifty different questions were fired at Peter at once he didn't even know where to begin until MJ, his savior, yelled at everyone to shut up. Of course they all listened, everyone- including Flash- was terrified of MJ.
"Okay, now ask away one at a time." MJ said with a smirk, Peter doesn't know why he thought MJ was actually going to help him. He groaned again, lifting his head off his desk wearily. He glanced to his teacher for help, who waited for the first question to be asked. She knew there was no way the rest of this class would be normal. She gave into the mess that was this situation. Peter cursed God for abandoning him- sorry Thor.
"Why did you call Tony 'dad'?" Came the first question from Cindy. As far as everyone was aware, Peter didn't have any parents- the only family he did have was his aunt, and Tony Stark didn't have any children. The amount of publicity surrounding him means it is impossible for Tony to be able to hide the fact he had a child.
"Well he's not my actual dad, he just, sort of, kinda became my dad." Peter explained with some hesitation.
"Okay no, not good enough. We all want an explanation. How did you even meet him?" Cindy added as she folded her arms and every stared at Peter expectantly.
"I entered a science competition and Tony happened to be involved. He was impressed with my work so offered me a chance to work for SI for the day. I impressed him so he made me his personal intern. Things then escalated from there and several lab sessions, movie nights and an emotional breakdown later, he was my dad. He's all but adopted me at this point." Peter explained with a soft smile. MJ was impressed by how quickly Peter came up with the lie about a science competition as she knew the truth. Usually Peter was terrible at lying, she was slightly proud of him.
"So what's the real Tony Stark like?" Betty asked. Peter pondered for a second, wondering what was best to say and whether or not to embarrass Tony, which of course he decided to- Tony wasn't there to stop him and he just phoned Peter in front of his entire class, so this was his fault.
"Basically everything you've read about him is a lie. He's the kindest and most selfless person I know. He's always doing everything he can to help others, and me- even if I'm being a little shit. He also cries a lot at Disney movies, just a fun fact for you all. We watched Wreck It Ralph last Friday and he cried when Ralph destroyed Vanellope's car." Peter said fondly with a slight laugh at the end when he recalled the memory. He definitely hadn't been mocking Tony about that all week. "Also he's a surprisingly good cook- then again I've been eating Aunt May's cooking for years so anything is better." Peter added with a shudder as he recalled the lasagna she made a couple of weeks ago (a/n someone one cooked lasagna so bad I couldn't eat any lasagna again for five years).
"Why was Star Wars banned from the Tower? I used to think Mr Stark was cool, but I don't know now. No-one should mess with Star Wars." Ned asked as he was as big of a Star Wars nerd as Peter was. He almost felt betrayed by this revelation.
"I made Tony watch it so many times and a couple of days ago he woke up and FRIDAY informed him that he was saying some of the line from one of the movies in his sleep so he decided it had gone too far. I tried to hack FRIDAY, I even tried to use Karen but nothing works. I only made him watch Star Wars once last weekend." Peter pouted, he hates being deprived of Star Wars, even if he can watch it at home or with Ned. But nothing beats watching his favourite movie of the cinema sized screen at the Tower.
"How come you managed to override FRIDAY before? And who's Karen?" Another one of his classmates asked.
"Well I have all access to FRI and there are certain protocols in place about me and I found a loop hole in them so I could override FRIDAY. And Karen is my own AI. Tony made her for me." Peter explained as he pulled out his phone. "Karen say hello to my class." Peter spoke into his phone, on command Karen greeted his class. "I called her Karen because I felt rude not referring to her by name, so I gave her one." Peter added. Everyone looked in awe, and some in jealousy, at Peter- he was so lucky.
"What's it like working with Tony? And what work do you actually do?" Peter had to think for a moment, he wasn't sure exactly how much he could say and he wanted to make sure he said nothing that implicated that he is Spider-Man but he wanted to back up when Ned said he knew Spidey, which wasn't technically a lie.
"I work on Tony's suits sometimes as well as some stuff for Spider-Man. I pretty much do anything really, anything Tony or anyone in the other labs need help with I'm there to help. Oh and I'm working on making robotic pets for people with pet allergies. They act like actual pets, just without the same amount of mess." Peter said excitedly.
"But why pick you though? There's so many better, more deserving people of an internship than you Parker." Flash sneered, Peter was planning on ignoring Flash as he knew this was just said out of jealousy.
"Well, Eugene, I chose Peter because he's one of the most intelligent people I've ever met. He's easily the smartest person at SI- bar me of course. But more than that he's so kind- too kind for his own good. He is the best person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. You won't meet anyone more deserving than Peter- hell he deserves more that even I, or anyone could give him." Tony stated calmly startling everyone in the room who were so focused on Peter that they didn't even notice Tony walk in.
Tony took a few steps into the room before turning to Flash, "you ever say or do anything to hurt my kid I will destroy your life, we clear?" Tony threatened, his signature glasses hiding the burning rage behind his eyes. Flash nodded as he turned bright red out of a combination of fear and embarrassment- he couldn't being himself to form words.
In the blink of an eye, Tony went from angry to smiling as he turned to face Peter.
"I've come to pick you up early Underoos, if that's okay with you teacher." Tony said casually, he was pretty sure Peter's teacher wouldn't mind. Peter's teacher nodded, having Tony Stark speak to a student over the phone was one thing- actually being in the same room as him was another- they looked ready to pass out.
"Well pack your things up Bambino, you've got a lab full of glitter to clean up. And no using any of the bots to help you clean up. It's your mess not their." Tony chastised with a smirk, Peter flushed red with embarrassment as he class looked on at the interaction with amusement.
"Daad." Peter whined childishly.
"Petey-Pie." Tony reported, mocking the way Peter just spoke.
"I hate you, just so you know." Grumbled Peter as he pulled his bag over his shoulder.
"It's been great meeting you all, well most of you." Tony said cheerily, sending a death-glare over to Flash. Tony put his arm around Peter before the two of them walked out. Peter spent hours cleaning the lab whilst Tony watched, helpfully pointing out to Peter when he'd missed a piece of glitter. If Peter, in revenge for Tony making him clean up the glitter and embarrassing him twice in one day, sent one Tony's training videos into his class's group chat, well, Tony didn't need to know...
