Chapter 6: Gerry the Archive Ghost

Chapter Text

Martin was fairly certain he was immune to most things ‘out of the ordinary’ at this point. He had dealt with Too Much to be surprised. He had to have been. There couldn’t be anything weirder! Of course there couldn’t! There was nothing that could shock him anymore. At least that was until one of his boyfriends came back from America with a ghost.

When Jon had first told him about Gerry, Martin had assumed it was some sort of joke. Only...they weren’t laughing. They were dead serious. Gerard Keay was (partially) back from the dead via a skin page in a murder book. That sentence alone was enough to overwhelm Martin. He was extremely thankful to be at home with Better Gertrude curled up on his lap when Jon first tried to explain it. He needed as much emotional support as he could get and Gertrude was always good for that. She was an excellent cat. Though, that comment did remind Martin of some of Jon’s drunken ramblings from their (surprisingly successful) pub quiz.  Jon drunk had certainly been an...experience. They were dramatic, over the top, and made Martin love them just that little bit more. Though, that could be said for everything both of his boyfriends did. Each day brought yet another reason to love them.

He had decided that he wouldn’t be weird about it. Martin would just go to work and act as if Gerry was some new co-worker. Some people brought their loved ones magnets or postcards back from when they were on holiday, but Jon had very much one-upped that by bringing back a ghost. Martin didn’t exactly know what he was expecting when he met Gerry but he certainly wasn’t expecting him to be hot . Though, hot might have been the wrong word. Tim was hot. Jon was cute. And Gerry...Gerry was pretty. With his eternal shittily dyed black hair and an unnerving amount of eye tattoos, Martin was aware he probably didn’t fit the most linear definition of the word but he was pretty. And when their eyes met for the first time? Martin did his best not to get flustered. It didn’t help that Gerry was a ghost so Martin couldn’t just cover it by offering him a cup of tea.

This was going to be a very long, very flustering, day.
