Chapter 7: The Shelter

Chapter Text

After an indefinite period of time, he woke up, the stars shining brightly in the sky between the dusty pillars of the building.

With a groan and a crackle of pulled joints, he stretched.

A soft breeze blew through the ruins, making him shiver. It wasn’t too cold, but the internal wiring exposed to the outside felt sensitive and strange.

After a few attempts to get up onto his pedes, Starscream began walking further into the building. He tried to check his chronometer only to find its readings spun between 3 in the morning and late afternoon, the dates multiple weeks apart.

His other systems had similar faulty readings, apparently his tanks were half full. Yeah right, he hadn’t fuelled since a that last canister in Darkmount and who knows how long ago that was, not him! Not with that fragged chronometer!

If it was any consolation to Starscream, at least he had the energy to be annoyed, anger and spite was a great motivator. He could use it to find more Energon.

Glancing up at the hole in the ceiling, he deduced it must’ve been bombed, you could see the floors of the building through said hole, the apartments and living spaces having been blown apart.

But… up there! In the corner of a room! A soft blue light!

He quickly scrambled up the fallen pillars to the room and stumbled over to a large, dented cabinet, the source of the light glowing inside. He wrenched the door aside and gasped in delight at his findings.

Energon, lots of it. Half of it was processed and the other half raw.

Not even considering why it was still here or how long at had been, he dug out the processed cubes and poured them into his intake.

It was difficult, painful and had he been doing this in front of anyone else, embarrassing, but Primus was it good to eat.

With a full tank and leftover cubes of Energon he sat down and looked around the room.

This particular apartment must’ve been home to 2 or 3 people. An average sized living area, now blown apart, next to what was left of the cabinets and draws that made the kitchen.

Across the centre of the apartment was a hall, leading to a few rooms and a wash rack, it even had a balcony once. How quaint.
Nothing like the marvellous spires of Vos, but it would do. It’s not they existed anymore anyway.

He sighed and looked around for a processing unit for the raw Energon.
There was one built into the counter, but it obviously needed a little work, there were loose pieces and rusted parts. Not what you want in your fuel.

And of course the rest of his newfound shelter?
There wasn’t a whole lot there and this location wasn’t perfect. But it was better than that horror tower. He’d keep watch, or try to anyway with barely functioning optics, and make sure Megatron hadn’t followed him.

But in the meantime, he’d enjoy the rest that he could get.

He had plans for this place.

Notes:

Sorry this took so long! Next chapter, we’ll check in on the Autobots.

Notes:

Ok, this is chapter 1! Idk when the next one will be, I have half the story planned out but actually writing it is a whole other thing
