Just come over! It’s Christmas, and the last time you saw any of the family was at Thanksgiving 3 years ago. We’re your family, sweetheart, we’re supposed to be together for the holidays. You shouldn’t be spending them alone in your apartment with a cheap fake tree you bought at Lowe’s. Give me one good reason why you can’t come home, no shoddy excuses.” Cynthia said with finality.
On the other line, Paul let out a shaky sigh, then went quiet for a minute.
“Well?”
“Mom, uh… You might want to sit down. I have some… news.”
