Summary
The first time Ben Parker meets Tony Stark, he punches him square in the face.
Tony bites back a curse and ignores the way his eyes water as he looks back up at the man. Ben’s not angry, which is part of the reason the punch took him by surprise. They’re lucky the door is closed, or Happy would have tackled him to the ground.
“Did that make you feel better?” Tony asks, the sarcasm in his tone biting, but Ben takes it as a serious question.
“No.” If Tony didn’t know any better, he’d say the man almost cracks a smile. It’s hard to tell, and Tony’s never met a man he can’t read, but Ben doesn’t look angry (seriously, why doesn’t he look angry?), even though that punch felt angry. “...Maybe a little.”

Sabo shifts slightly, drawing Robin’s attention. His eyes are brighter than Robin’s ever seen them, focused firmly on her captain as he snores. Usopp slips down fully onto the floor, and Robin smiles as Sabo absently readjusts Luffy’s covers, tenderness in every motion as he smooths them down over his chest.
(She’d wanted to tell Luffy about Sabo so, so bad. He’d still been hurting, even two years later, his loss clear in the way he’d stare wistfully at the stars at night before turning to talk to someone who wasn’t there; clear in the way he’d grip at his scar, sometimes, glaring into the distance; clear in the way he’d bring Ace up, talk happily about him, but have tears beading in his eyes.
(The few times she’d been the one to console him after a nightmare, it had taken all her willpower not to give him the hope that he so desperately craved.)
She knows it wasn’t her secret to share.
Still, only Sabo’s promise to reunite with him as soon as possible had stilled her tongue as Luffy sobbed into her chest.)

He should understand better than any of them how defective his relationship skills are. He has no right to pretend it isn’t true now that they can all hear it aloud. “But you hate yourself more for making us worse, which is—it’s fucked up, but we’re all fucked up, and it’s—it’s only partially your fault. You secretly wish you’d never met any of us, and you’d be right about it because now we hate ourselves, too.”
How can Bruce have the audacity to look heartbroken when he already knew all of this? Why is he pretending? Why does he keep lying?
(Dick is dosed with truth serum, and the effects will take at least a day to wear off. During that time, Dick is forced to reveal and confront truths about himself that he never wanted to acknowledge. )

Celine hopes, and she hopes more, and prays at Mi-yeong's grave, hoping vainly that one day Rumi will wake up and be freed from her affliction. Not so that she'll feel better about raising the contradiction to her duty, but so that Rumi can live her own life freely.
Every day, she prays. Every day after, Rumi smiles at her with covered arms. Every day after that, Celine grows just a little more strict.
She pulls Rumi out of her local private school, teaches her lessons personally, finds vocal coaches who'll meet Rumi at the estate. She limits what the world sees of her, stops taking her to awards shows, drills privacy and caution and fear into her, and tries not to feel guilty when Rumi strives more and more for perfection, for a chance to prove herself.
