Summary
Yusuf lets out a stuttered breath and pulls back to meet his eyes. Nicolò’s eyes were dark in the candlelight. He always looks breathtaking from this angle, looking up at him while pressed into his chest, the cupid’s bow of his mouth exaggerated and lashes casting a shadow onto his cheeks. Yusuf has never been able to resist dipping down and worshipping those lips with his own, demanding more, initiating something that would keep them awake for a little longer.
“Yusuf,” says Nicolò. “Yusuf, you don’t have to stop,” Nicolò says.
Yusuf looks at him, tracing his eyebrow with his thumb, smoothing his frown. “I’m alright, my love,” he says, and means it.
“My hands, my mouth, my ass–” Nicolò says, “– still work, you know.”

The man hadn’t moved out of his spot for the past two hours. He just sat there, staring straight at the camera with those creepy blue eyes of his.. There was something about him that was just… out of place. Like looking at a shade, just that tiny step out of reality, like a mockery of humanity. So close that it could pass as human, yet not. It would be easier to deal with him if there was some visible difference setting him apart. Even just a twist to his ears, or an off color of skin would help. But instead he looked like a generic white male, with a clear Roman nose and a clear profile of facial items that might all look wrong on their own, but that worked together to make him look like a Renaissance statue come alive.

Summary
World renown plastic surgeon and medical researcher Yusuf Al-Kaysani is the latest target of the deadly Italian assassin Nicolò di Genova, also known as La Tigre. Dr. Al-Kaysani, or Joe is as he is known among his loyal servants Booker, Andy, and Quynh, is conducting questionable and dangerous experiments involving creating a revolutionary skin graft through the ethnically dubious practice of trangenesis. Regardless of the ethics of his experiment, La Tigre sneaks into his vast estate to kill his target, only to discover the horrible methods of his research. Foiled by the doctor's loyal servants, La Tigre soon becomes part of the Joe's experimentation.

Nicky’s eyes flicked back down to the liquid in the cup. It looked almost black, as if the shadows that surrounded him in the dimly lit room had somehow leeched into the cup. He began to feel his heart pound inside his chest.
Before he changed his mind, he lifted it to his lips, and tilted his head back.

You find your youngest son in the marshes up to his knees when he’s eight, up to his thighs when he’s ten. You weep in the night for him each time, tears silently streaming down your face as your husband sleeps next to you, blissfully unaware.
When your son is a lanky thirteen, you find him up to his waist. It takes an hour before his dull eyes clear and sparkle like they’re supposed to.
That night, when the moon is full and high in the sky, you slip out of bed and walk to the edge of the marsh to run your hands through the wild rushes.
“Please,” you ask aloud. “Please,” you beg. “He’s my dear, sweet boy, please don’t take him.”
The night is still and calm as you hold your breath and wait. When the wind finally stirs, it whispers “ras el-’alqa.”
You fall to your knees and weep.
