Thinking it could be beneficial for his job at the library and also give him the inspiration he needs to continue writing, Dean signs up for Professor Novak’s Science Fiction and Fantasy class. What he wasn't expecting was for the professor to be a fantasy himself. All sex hair, black liner, and tattooed in poetry, Dean is lucky he can swallow in his teacher’s presence, let alone speak sanely and intelligently. He may be the oldest student in the class, but Professor Novak merely has to look at Dean with those deep blue eyes lined in black kohl to turn him into a stuttering teenager with a crush.
Luckily for Dean, Professor Novak doesn't seem to mind at all.

Dean sits back in his chair, drinking his coffee and watching Castiel. After a few moments, he realizes that the soft, mellow feeling in his chest is… contentment. He's not happy in the way that a little kid is happy at their birthday party, or even in the way that he is when Cas or Sam has been miraculously brought back to life after one of the long string of disasters in their lives. He's happy in a new and different way. And has been, maybe, for a while now. Nearly as long as Cas has been living here, human, in the bunker.
And then Dean Winchester has a moment of absolute clarity.

He’s not used to this, the constancy of Cas at his side 24/7, with no random potential deadly trips to Heaven, no fear that Cas will leave him and never come back. There’s no more Lucifer, Amara, and no potential end of the world. Cas is just here, he’s himself, and everything is mostly okay. In reality, Dean’s pretty sure he’s dreaming and in two seconds he’s going to wake up and a Djinn will be sucking him dry. There’s no way his luck could be this good.
