Summary
After Candace had finished her tea and bid him farewell, Alhaitham lingered at their table long after in contemplation. The spider in his mind spun a web of various information of what he already knows and what has been enlightened to him, intertwining thread after thread of thought.
The missing scholars, the mystery in the desert, and the General Mahamatra’s long disappearance.
One thing shone clear within Alhaitham’s mind like a string of gold at daybreak: The person that left for the desert nearly a month ago was Cyno and whatever had returned to Sumeru City was not.
Alhaitham is going to find out exactly what happened.

He, of course, throws his anxiety of meeting his mother aside and accepts. Left alone in Sumeru, all Alhaitham has left of Kaveh is a few memories, Kaveh’s keys, and the scent of padisarahs. That is until Alhaitham coughs up blood, and strangely, padisarah petals.
