It’s funny, the way you can see past the cracks in Ren’s mask now. The distant stare or curled lip that once would have been so easy to miss is now as clear as anything to you. Moments where your hands are intertwined as you walk the streets of Corland Bay feel almost alien now that you can pinpoint when his hands will tighten over yours as a passerby stares just a second too long.
Maybe it’s meant to be a warning sign. Like the twitch of a rabbit’s ear as the wolf nears, the adrenaline associated with being....hunted.

Sam takes you off guard when he leans forward, his hands on either side of your elbows, bracing himself upon the bar. The smell of hops and wheat are strong on his breath as his lips inch closer to your ear. Your breath hitching in your throat when you feel the warm air rolling down your neck.
“You,” Sam whispered, the vibrations rattling you down to your core.
He leaned away from your ear enough to look at your face, his teal eyes glazed over with want and lust. “Can we talk?”
