Summary
“Then I want one more gift,” Naim presses his hand against Ryan’s chest lightly, urging him to lay down against the mattress.
Crawling over him, Naim holds him in place while he leans close, their noses brushing. “I want you to know how it feels.”
“How what feels?” Ryan tries not to look affected, but his voice betrays him. It shakes as he meets Naim’s hard gaze.
“This,” Naim uses his thumb again to caress the trail of hair disappearing into Ryan’s shorts.

Summary
“I’m never, ever breaking up with you,” Naim says softly. He rotates his left wrist, showcasing the 'Ryan’s' in rolling cursive peeking out from underneath his watch. Ryan’s eyes flicker to it. “I would never leave you. I just don’t know how to do all of this stuff right. Talking through things. Marriage. Reckon it might be nice to have some help."
After 12 years together, Naim decides it's finally time for them to see a couples therapist and really figure out this healthy communication thing. They receive a little book called the 5 love languages.

Summary
Ryan Whelan could count on one hand the times he’d cried in front of another person. He didn’t count the times before age six. Those times were more forgiving. After all, babies cried—it was an accepted fact of life. Toddlers cried, too, sometimes. This was also accepted, though sometimes met with disapproving frowns. After a certain age, Ryan learned it was no longer accepted.

Summary
Ryan sighed - there was the naim-stop-smoking sigh that he remembered before - and brought the washcloth up to tenderly dab at the already crusted blood on his cheekbone. “And lost your pretty privilege- maybe the few brain cells left in there too. Entertain me. Who’s the president?”
Naim scoffed against the washcloth. “Prime minister, dickhead. You watch too much American shit.”
Ryan pressed firmer into his cheek, sending fresh waves of pain through Naim’s aching head. He groaned, attempting weakly to push Ryan’s unrelenting hand off. “What’s his fucking name- Guy who shit himself in the Maccas.”

Summary
“Please, tell me you won’t do that again,” he pleaded. He was ready to drop to both knees right then and there.
“Never again,” Naim promised. It was the only words Ryan needed to hear before he pushed Naim back onto the king-sized bed.
Or, Naim leaves Ryan, they reunite at a party. Makeup sex.
