Post-Episode 5x10. Summary: After a bitter breakup with Taylor and Eddie’s announcement that he’s leaving the 118, Buck spirals into a self-hating, self-sacrificing breakdown. During a harrowing call, he severely burns his hands trying to save someone.
Deeply concerned, Eddie insists on taking care of Buck throughout his recovery. Buck realizes his feelings for Eddie are stronger than he thought…and that terrifies him. He already lost him as a partner. He didn’t want to lose him a friend, too.
A/N: Get ready for some whump and angst, people. What I think is going to happen after the events of 5x10. I’m gonna warn you, this is really emotionally heavy and pretty much like a therapy exercise for me right now. I’m literally crying while writing. I’m okay though. This is cathartic.

Buck wakes up gradually, from the darkness of unconsciousness to something slow and hazy. He’s barely aware of where he is at first, all he knows is that he’s warm and comfortable. He savours it, breathes in slowly and lets each sense take in his surroundings one by one. “I was wondering…what would you think about compelling me?” Buck asked, looking down studiously at the vegetables he was cutting. He couldn’t look at Eddie while he waited for his answer, his heart beating in his chest.
