Ren woke up one day, compelled to call himself King, and had been crowned on Hermitcraft with Bdubs, his right hand- no- Kingmaker.
A gimmick that the others easily played into. Until Grians stance against him became to hostile (Scars too, though he held back more)
People got hurt, people apologised, the Hermits moved on.
It didn't feel right to Ren. Like there was something missing. Someone, stood by his side.
He had Bdubs!
But sometimes, for a split second, he saw the silhouette of someone else where Bdubs stood-
Something was missing.
But what?

Open the book.
Heart pounding, Grian paused. He turned to his side to see an alleyway next to him, dark and mysterious and looking straight out of a horror movie.
Grian. Open the book.
His body started shaking. Small tremors going through his arms, his legs. Not enough to make him fall over, but enough to be noticeably there. The back of his head began to hurt, the building up of a headache.
“Stop it.” Grian whispered, and like a light switch, everything stopped. His body stabilized, his head cleared, and Grian was going crazy.
Or, Grian finds a book that can grant all his desires, and makes a wish. But when reality starts to change and all his friends gain superpowers, Grian learns the hard way to be careful what you wish for.

Summary
“How do I know?” The kid spits, knife raised again, trembling violently. His eyes are wet, angry and pleading and piercing right down into Grian’s soul.
“...If I can fly?” Grian asks, confused. His heart is beating fast.
The boy shakes his head violently, taking a lurching step forward, now only a few feet away. Something about his eyes almost seems familiar, but the thought is fleeting. The knife looks sharp. The child is crying, slow tears that barely have an effect on his voice.
“No,” the kid says forcefully. “How do I know you’re not a zombie?”
OR,
A young Scar fresh from a world overtaken by zombies stumbles through The Rift onto Hermitcraft, and is quickly adopted by the rest of the Hermits, who have no idea who he actually is.
An older Scar grapples with a past that he'd rather forget, all while trying to avoid the version of himself he left behind a long time ago. -

To be clear, it was a favor forged out of mutual interest. Either side had something to gain from this deal. There were zero other reasons why Scar might’ve accepted Grian’s invitation without really considering it. Zero.
It didn’t matter that Scar had been too distracted by Grian’s mischievous grin to catch his question at first. It didn’t matter that his stomach had practically launched into his throat when the words actually did register. It didn’t matter that they were the same ones he’d fantasized about hearing for the better part of two years now.
“Scar,” Grian had said, dangerously earnest. “Go on a date with me.”
