"Do you... do you like her, Neil?"
The question hung in the air and Todd braced himself for the sharp, casual yes that would end his suffering.
Neil didn't answer right away. He stopped fidgeting with his jacket and slowly pushed himself up from his desk chair. He walked toward the bed, stopping at the edge, looming over Todd. The distance between them, felt cavernous.
"Does 'liking' mean having your stomach flutter when she walks into the room? Does it mean going completely silent, suddenly terrified you'll say something stupid? Does it mean the minute I found out you were out there on the dock, nearly freezing to death, the whole date became completely irrelevant, and all I could think about was getting you back into this room?"

Summary
'Mr. Keating’s class had always been a bit frightening, laced with prospects of more public speaking and bearing your soul for the entire class of immature teenage boys to see, but it was even worse today, because it was a few days before Valentine’s Day, and he couldn’t be more afraid to find out what was on the ‘Convince Todd Anderson to Switch Schools’ agenda.'
or
Todd Anderson has a special role to play in his English class's poor rendition of Romeo and Juliet.

Summary
The red petals look like blood against the untouched snow, a testimony to the suppressed feelings that should’ve been put to rest together with him ten years ago. But burying emotions and lingering attachments is harder than burying a body. You can’t just dig a hole into the ice cold earth and let them remain six feet under, never to be felt again. He knows that’s not how it works, but it has never stopped him from trying anyways.

Summary
“Todd always had a interest in animals. As the neighbour’s cat got kittens, Todd proudly helped taking care of them. Sometimes he’d run around the field with the neighbours dog, it was a black dog, with white paws and a tummy patch. The dog had the biggest brown puppy eyes, Todd would’ve gave the dog the world, if he could.”
Or; Todd enters Welton, he befriends his roomate and falls in love with him, spending Thanksgiving with his friends at his lake house.

Summary
Todd had never really felt beautiful. His eyebrows were too far apart, his face too slim, his body too soft and feminine – he sometimes flinched when he saw his reflection. And he often heard that it’s the inside that matters, so it should be fine – if you exclude the fact that he was so thoroughly rotten, so completely broken. Sometimes, Todd wished he was more like Jeffrey. Jeffrey, who could make anyone smile, Jeffrey with the perfect grades, Jeffrey with his handsome face and broad hands. The perfect son.
